So sad that our sweet cat Taffy passed away this morning; she was 12.
It was quick and quiet. She wasn't sick, so.... She was eating lunch, walked a few feet away into the living room, laid down and that was it. (thank goodness my husband was home...)
We still have her daughter, Vader, but our hearts are heavy...
Taffy, we will miss you - your beautiful bunny fur, your bunny hops, your snuggles, and your beautiful blue eyes. For a cat who couldn't meow, you sure could still be pretty talkative!
Enjoy the Rainbow Bridge...

Nat: so sorry to hear of Taffy's passing. I find the idea of the rainbow bridge very comforting & I take solace in knowing every pet I have ever had are together and waiting for me. I am sure Vader must be lost without her.

Aw, Nat, you must be heartbroken. I hope there's some solace in the fact that you and she will be together again in a new world. Watch for signs that Vader might be visited by her, still.
This may help: the other day our Jenny was on my lap napping when quite quickly she opened her eyes and looked away a bit, on the floor. Then she sort-of "traced" along the floor as if watching an ant (there was no ant). I was babbling away....oh, we have a visitor....I wonder who it is....blah, blah, THEN I said, "Maybe it's Tammy." and the swung her head around and looked at me as if I had said the most intelligent pronouncement in the world! Yes of course, I chalked it up to coincidence as she continued staring at the floor, but in my heart I wanted to believe it was our late, beloved border collie, Tammy.
So. The next day when she was sipping her water, I looked at her and said, "I wonder if Tammy..." and again, she swung her head out from the water and stared at me!!! Well, I was spooked...but calm, iykwim.
A few days later she did the same thing, and I called Tammy over and told her I loved her and that I'd see her again...thank goodness no one else was around to hear THAT!
So, just keep your eyes on Vader from time to time...I don't think mama will stray too far from her little boy, or you.
I hope that little story helps a bit although I know it takes a long time for a broken heart to heal enough to remember and smile. {{{hugs}}}

oh Natalka, after that joyful rescue when Taffy went missing in the dead of winter, I thought she would have been with you much longer, she certainly deserved to be. Twelve is up there I suppose, and Taffy weighed very little right? She was so strikingly pretty as Rag Doll cats are.
At least it was swift, as opposed to her suffering with a debilitating illness.
My deepest sympathies.

Lynn, what an interesting story!
For sure, I was really watching out for Vader yesterday. She did do a few house searches, went room to room several times. She snuggled with me as usual - ate, drank, etc. as usual.
walkonby, 12 cat years is about 70 in our years, and that's the low end of life expectancy. Honestly, if an animal has to go, that was the way to do it - as my husband said, it was almost like she had a heart attack. Just because of where it happened, we each saw it from opposite sides. She just laid down and was gone.
Yes it sure was a miracle that she had survived that big adventure when she was lost a few years ago. She's always been light in weight, even though she was a large cat - but had always been a good eater.
It's just weird not having her around...
Thanks to all of you, I know you understand.

I'm sorry to hear of your dear Taffy passing away, Natalka. There is comfort knowing she got to spend some weeks with you after you came home from the hospital to catch up on the snuggles and other things she missed when you were away. Just as your missed her while she was on the lam from home way back when.
@Lynn49 -what a beautiful story about your pets!2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.
