I'm sorry to hear that Dave. It must be a terrible burden for you to carry.

As Canadians, most of us have lived (relatively) charmed lives compared to many other places in the world. It's tragic that such things happen in what's considered one of the best country's in the world, isn't it?

It also seems the most innocent bare the brunt of politics and greed. Natives being a prime example.

You and I have discussed this before, but as the Bible says, "The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one" 1 John 5:19 Not for much longer, thankfully.

There are many people that DO care Dave. I hope you can take a little comfort in that. . . .

It's a month since the shootings.
Teachers went back to work today, but not students.

Tomorrow there will be an open house at the school and a cultural event for the students, Wednesday the community is having a 'reclaiming our school' walk, with another open house and cultural event at the school.

The Crown says it will apply to have a 17-year-old suspect sentenced as an adult, if convicted, in the January shooting deaths of four people in La Loche, Sask.
The teen appeared by video link in Saskatchewan provincial court today, in Meadow Lake, shortly after 1:30 p.m. CST.
He has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder and seven counts of attempted murder. He also faces one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm.
The judge ruled today that the publication bans in place now will continue.
Court was adjourned shortly after 2 p.m., with the next court date for the accused set for April 12 at 10 a.m. in La Loche provincial court.

During the teenager's first court appearance, the defence did not ask the judge for a psychiatric assessment.

La Loche school shooter to be sentenced as an adult

Stating that a youth sentence would not be appropriate, a Saskatchewan provincial court judge has ruled that a young man who pleaded guilty to shooting and killing four people and wounding seven others will be sentenced as an adult.
Judge Janet McIvor handed down her decision Friday morning to a packed courtroom in La Loche.

McIvor said while the shooter did appear to feel remorse for killing the two brothers, he did not show the same remorse for the victims at the school.
“For the most part he appeared unaffected” by the victim impact statements presented at his sentencing hearing last year, McIvor said.
She said the crime was heinous and has had a profound impact on the community, with an increase in substance abuse and suicides.
“He ambushed and murdered both (brothers),” McIvor stated, and the school shooting was “planned and deliberate.”

A publication ban on identifying the young man remains in place.

Court has been adjourned until March 16 when sentencing will take place in Meadow Lake.
He had pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder and seven counts of attempted murder.
As an adult, he faces an automatic life sentence with no chance for parole for 10 years, although he can be credited for time served.
The young man was just shy of his 18th birthday when he went on a shooting spree on Jan. 22, 2016.
