Gt price matches, they probably would have just adjusted your receipt

I find I sometimes end up unwittingly counting promotions and points both ways - in other words twice instead of just once - which inflates my numbers when I calculate my annual savings from coupons, redemptions, and other promotions.

    Thanks!

I count my cards as savings when I actually use then then I don't count them twice.

I think the key is to have a system that you find clear and easy to remember. There's probably no universally best way since our minds aren't all wired in the same ways.

Personally, I count money and things I consider more or less equivalent as savings when I receive them; e.g. C51 rebate cheques, the $25 Loblaws cards, MIRs. Otoh, I count points as savings when I redeem them. Related to this, I try never to pay more for anything by factoring in the points I'll get for buying in order to arrive at a lower net cost.

Coupons can be tricky. To cite just one example of a not necessarily straightforward type of situation, let's say there's a product I buy when the cost is $4 after using a $1 coupon, but when I don't have said coupon, I'll buy a substitute that costs the same $4. So when I use the coupon, I get a product I prefer, but it's arguable whether I save money or not.

Had a nice little adventure with the kids today. Went to TRU each kid got the $5 Savings card to buy a little treat. Each used their own money to cover the tax and a few $ above.

Off we went to Harvey's. Used the 2 can dine coupon for the kids. I ordered the $5 Jr Double Burger Meal. Added bacon and cheese. Used my $10 gc from SB's. Paid $10.35 oop.

I saved a few and finally used one of those coupons at Walmart. Used the overage for some Walmart Gluten Free cookies.
I just wish they had more without wheat.
