those self-promoting ads that end with 'brought to you by the province of ontario' also drive me nutzzzzz! those ads are paid for by *us* not by the governing party.
    don't get me started.
June 4 2018. That's the election date, I think. Plus there are early polling dates to vote.

Announced today. Ontario Hydro has to cut $30 million from their budget in the next 2 years.
Ontario’s energy regulator has ordered Hydro One to cut $30 million over two years from its administrative budget, saying ratepayers shouldn’t foot the bill for higher pay for senior staff.

Last year, the CEO earned $4.5 million. Kathleen Wynne earned $208,974 (2016)

Theprovince’s auditor checked out the hydro rate decrease. Turns out the hydrorate decrease is because they borrowed money. We are going to be paying thisback. For the next 30 years.
Premier Kathleen Wynne's move to reduce hydro bills in Ontario with an election looming goes under the auditor general's microscope today.
What the Ontario Liberal government calls its "Fair Hydro Plan" has brought down the average household electricity bill by 25 per cent from the peak it hit in the summer of 2016. The Wynne government has committed to keep rate increases below inflation for the next four years, but admits bills will rise significantly in the decade that follows.

Auditor General Bonnie Lysyk will reveal the results of her investigation Tuesday into how the rate cuts are financed, and whether the plan is fair for taxpayers and hydro customers

When Premier McGuinty first had the 10% rate rebate on hydro bills, it was generally understood that that it was going to cost taxpayers in the long run (to pay back the money).

I may wish to see if I can get poll clerk or advance poll clerk work for the Ontario election.

Hydro One, you should find out what kind of $ you can get by selling the shiny mirrored HQ on College at University in Toronto.

my older son is sad that he can't vote in the next election, he turns 18 a month later. I guess if nothing else this current government has our kids paying attention.
I work a block away from Queens Park and weekly there is some sort of anti Wynne anti liberal protest going on.

I'm confused... if he wont be 18 until after the election, how is he eligible to work for Elections Ontario during the election?

    march 30 2017:
    http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/sudbur...-one-1.4047562

Ontario's energy minister says despite repeated questions in the legislature about the salary of the CEO of Hydro One, the millions being paid in compensation has no effect on people's energy bills.

"The rates are set by the Ontario Energy Board, they're not set by the company," Glenn Thibeault said.
"The salary of the CEO has nothing to do with the rates that we're seeing on our bills."

Mayo Schmidt, the CEO of Hydro One took home more than $4.85 million last year in salary and benefits. The combined five-person executive made a total of $11 million.
Ontario Energy Minister, Glenn Thibeault says the multi-million dollar salary of Hydro One's CEO has no effect on people's hydro bills. (Peter Power/Canadian Press)

"If we were to take all the salaries out, it still wouldn't even take one full cent off of everyone's bills," Thibeault said.

so learned yesterday that ON still owns 40% of ON Hydro
WE own 40% of ON Hydro
so this means that the Liberal government could have gone to the vote, where the Board give themselve a raise
Did the Liberal government go and vote against the Board's raise?
    No!
They abstained from the vote. Huh?
They had the chance to stop this and they decided not to get involved this time.
    Huh?

All ON SCs, please, please vote! You can even vote this week at the special early voting locations. Across the province!

BTW, voted on Saturday. Took 5 minutes

There was an excellent editorial cartoon that went with commentary about Hydro One's pay raise in the Hamilton Spectator. https://www.thespec.com/opinion-stor...artoon-may-22/

Hydro One remains a hot-button election issue-farmers have their beef with time-of-use rates when they have to run machines for a day or more to process crops, etc.
