Water billing for rental units in Hamilton

There was a notice in this week's flyer bundle from Alectra Utitilies indicating that owners of residential properties will become the
account holders for water accounts set up in their units as of June 1. Tenants who do not move will keep their accounts but in the event of a move, the owner of a rental unit is responsible for ensuring that water bills get paid. Meaning future renters after June 1 will no longer have a utiilty bill in their name (which is a form of identification for services in some other areas) if they move into a rental unit but are still expected to pay the bill or the owner to pay the bill.

Hmm I guess no loblaws gc for you jk good and bad
good cause one less bill and maybe it may slow the insane buying up of all our reasonably priced homes we have left in the city to jack up multi unit rentals
bad cause up goes the rent. Unfortunately many renters won't use less water leave taps running etc more than if they had to pay the bill themself

Water heater is not a utility a lot of tenants pay anyway, most tenants only pay hydro. I didn't get it in my flyers or bill though.
