Morning! What a cold damp rainy day here today. The wind is suppose to be terrible this afternoon. Of course on garbage day as always. Didn't put out recycling so will only have to hunt down the garbage can!

Spontaneous dinner out last night. He didn't feel like cooking which is not like him. Been busy the past few weeks so it catches up with you. We had a bunch of choices but decided may as well go to casino to nice restaurant where we could use coupons and just pay tip. Was really good. Had nice starter salads, I had gnocchi with beef tips he had steak. We shared a piece of cheesecake . Grabbed a latte and coffee for the road and some drinks for the fridge for the kids (free with comps). Was a nice dinner out.

Tonight I need to get rolling on laundry!!! Youngest DS will have a list of things he needs to do. (#1 hide his Halloween candy!! )

Will prep dinner tonight for tomorrow night as well to make it an easy day tomorrow.

I've been making a lot of soups these days because it is chilly outside, soup is good way to use up leftovers (esp. veggies), and it makes the grocery budget stretch. Homemade soup and .99 cent Pillsbury rolls have become a standard lunch in our house, and they love the hot rolls so much that there is never a complaint. I am also looking into "depression-era cooking" which has become popular and can be quite tasty. Like with peasant food in which people needed to find ways to use up the bad cuts of meat which was all they could afford. That's where a lot of Mexican food comes from. Minced for better texture, heavily spiced to mask any 'ripeness'. Going to get creative here.

I have a butternut squash on the counter waiting to be made into soup

I think my fave quick meal to make these days that is super easy is one pan chicken. Whole chicken with potatoes and carrots cut up. It cooks up perfect!!! Even better are the world flavour chickens I bought that are all spiced up, cut flat and I don't have to add anything. Think I will defrost one over night tonight and make up the pan in the morning and have DS toss in the oven when he gets home from school. (need to grab bag of potatoes $1 for 10lbs at No Frills I think it is since I used up the last ones the other day)

@Ciel thanks for the reminder about hydro, I now do everything after 7pm as time of use and daylight time change messes me up.

Went to McDonald's asked for bacon and egg on a bagel, came home and realized I had sausage and egg, couldn't be bothered to go back. Time change has messed me up a bit, and with the rain and remnants of a cold are making me very tired.

During the day my bird feeder is up but if I leave it outside overnight, something is knocking it down, its on a tiny branch so I don't think it's a raccoon....maybe a squirrel at night?

Not sure what to do with my tin of leftover bacon grease - any suggestions besides tossing it in the garbage?

I just cashed out $41.65 from Caddle. I made $3 from purchasing 9 specialty bottles of French’s mustard at No Frills.

I was talking with my friend/neighbour this morning. I’m redirecting some food bank donation items and giving them directly to her. She is a single mom of 4 and dad is super behind on child support payments. He doesn’t send her anything. She said that she wants me to teach her how to shop like I do. She has anxiety and avoids confrontation, so she got anxious when I told her about the stuff I SCOPed at Walmart recently. I told her that if she’s serious, I’ll teach her. I told her that I’ll give her some coupons that will help her. I’ll also try to get her to sign up and order some coupons from websites, etc. She might come over on Thursday to get started.

This morning the kids and I baked a large pan of oatmeal chocolate chip squares and a 9x13” pan of magic squares. I’ll need to cut them up this afternoon. They will be part of the after school snack.

Just checked out the upcoming sale flyers. Food Basics wins and really just a few items. Cauliflower for .98 cents each is awesome! 4.97 for a ham. .98 for mushrooms. Really that's all I may buy in the next week. I will check out the roasts on sale at No Frills and RCSS and may grab a few for the freezer.

Winds up to 90 km in my area, several trees fell on lakeshore and 17 degrees wow! Cold front is coming but it was odd to see people in shorts today in November.

    Good Morning Everyone,
Not sure what is up but wow am I tired today, I took a night time sinus pill last night as my sinuses were bugging me so not sure if it is the meds but definitely not feeling my best today.

Last night after work we went to do some Grocery Shopping, it was mostly a stock up trip, now that the Stockpile room has been cleaned from the Mice I found some holes in my stockpile I have been working to fill as the sales happen. Last night we got:
    8 x Sugar $1.44 (Freshco)
    4 x Brown Sugar $1.77 (Freshco)
    4 x Think & Rich Pasta Sauce $0.99 (Freshco)
    2 x Tomato Sauce $0.99 (Freshco)
    2 x Olive Oil $5.99 (Freshco)
    4 x Ricotta 454g $1.88 (Food Basics)
    10 x Beef Broth $1.47 (Wal-Mart)
    2 x Eggs (Dozen) $1.88 (Freshco)

I have started to prepare for the Christmas baking season, I have not decided what I am taking to Dad's yet and no idea what Mom has planned for at our house. We are still in the phase where she is planning a big Christmas but this will slowly fade as it normally does. I also need to come up with idea for Christmas Breakfast.

Last night when I got home I used some older ricotta we had in the fridge plus some cherries Mom took out of the freezer but did not use to make 2 Cherry Ricotta Loaves, I have brought one to work for our meeting today and Mom took one to her work.

I do not know if I mentioned it here previously honestly that stretch of life is a little fuzzy, but since so many of the staff were coming to the Oma's viewing my Dad and Step Mom wanted sweets for people to snack on if they wanted to sit down have a treat and a coffee. Well I did not know it but the leftovers were brought to work so now everyone is aware of my baking skills as well word has gotten out I bake most weekends for the upcoming week so now I am asked what I have made and if there is any to share, which is nice. I had previously done baking for meetings but not sure what was up but it was kind of suggested I should stop so I did. So happy to have to invite to do so back as I do enjoy baking.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day, off to see what I can get done before our meeting today.

@SassyAshley I remember back in the day my boss would come to our office on Fridays and bring timbits so everyone always looked forward to that. And people would quit and we would have a little going away party with cake and we liked that too lol. Now we don't eat sugar and no one dares to bring in anything sweet to the office. Funny how times change.

After gymnastics last night I took our twins grocery shopping at Sobeys. They did quite well, especially since this was a big shop. They ate their free fruit and cookies. Dh stayed with ds and took him to gymnastics.
