Man charged after three injured in Whitby house explosion

A 48-year old man has been charged following a home explosion in Whitby. It happened yesterday afternoon, injuring three people. The suspect faces a list of charges including criminal negligence, arson, and production-under the cannabis act. Initially police said the explosion could have been caused by problems with a gas line, but it has since been deemed suspicious.The investigation continues and an engineer will inspect the home to ensure it is “structurally sound.”

Kawhi Leonard had 25 points and 11 rebounds in his return from an ankle injury, and the Toronto Raptors beat the Sacramento Kings 114-105 on Wednesday to improve the NBA's best record to 11-1.

Few neighbourhoods exemplify this fact better than Parkdale, where side-by-side, lined up along Queen Street West, you'll find spots specializing in food from Tibet, Japan, Poland, Mexico, India, Nepal, Greece, The Phillipines, Italy, France, French Polynesia, North Africa and now, Newfoundland.
Craig Pike, the East Coast actor-turned-entrepreneur behind Craig's Cookies, is expanding his footprint in Toronto with the creation of yet another business.

Located directly beside Craig's Cookies at 1537 Queen, the shop is called "NEWFOUNDLAND" — and it's exactly what it sounds like: a place to buy goods imported from Newfoundland and Labrador.
"We busted a hole in the wall to extend our kitchen in the back, and out front is a Newfoundland store!" said Pike of his new venture by email.
Items for sale include things like caramel logs, naval salt beef, 'Jam Jam' cookies and lots of the spice savoury.

Pike isn't the first person to have this idea in Ontario (apparently, there's some demand here for pickled pork scrunchions and pineapple crush) but his new store will be a unique addition to Toronto's food scene.
An opening date has yet to be announced, but things are coming along fast based on the store's Instagram profile — and customers are rabid for a taste of the Rock.

"Gonna have to learn how to make jiggs dinner for my roommates now!" commented one person on a picture of beef in a tub. "Pot liquor for DAYS b'y," wrote someone else.
I don't know what most of the comments mean, but there are tons of them — which usually means the shop will be poppin'.

Vigil held for victims of California bar shooting

Hundreds of people gathered at a vigil to remember the 12 people killed in a mass shooting at a bar in southern California. Authorities are still trying to figure out what sent the 28-year-old shooter -- a marine veteran -- on a bloody rampage at the packed Borderline Bar and Grill. The gunman apparently took his own life as police converged on the Thousand Oaks nightspot.

Another senior PC staffer leaves post, party won't say why

Another senior Ford government staffer has left his post and the party is not saying whether he resigned or was fired. John Sinclair, who served as Executive Director of the PC Caucus Service Bureau, has left his job. Last week, MPP and economic development minister Jim Wilson resigned from cabinet and caucus over what was first described as an addiction issue but was later revealed to be an allegation of sexual misconduct. Another staffer, Ford’s executive director of issues management Andrew Kimber, resigned last week over an allegation of improper workplace conduct.
