Esso Extra has a loyalty program I am in. For every dollar you spend you are rewarded with 1 point. If you bought your gas at Shell stations they reward you with Air Miles.

Kellogg's is running its $5 prepaid gas card promotion again until early June on selected cereal boxes. With the arrival of carbon taxes in Ontario and three other provinces on April 1, the prices of gasoline, natural gas and more went up.

Carbon taxes will appear on natural gas bills as of August 1, 2019-at least for Enbridge Customers:
What is the federal carbon charge? As part of the federal government's carbon pollution pricing program, a carbon charge applies to fossil fuels sold in Ontario, including natural gas. The federal carbon charge for natural gas is 3.91 cents per cubic metre (m3). This charge is expected to increase annually each April.
There is also a facility carbon charge, which for residential customers ranges from $0 to $0.03 per month, included in the delivery or transportation charge on your bill. This charge is associated with the costs to operate Enbridge Gas’s facilities.

All of the money that we collect for the federal carbon charge goes to the federal government.

What does this mean for you?
The federal carbon charge is included on customers’ bills effective Aug. 1, 2019 and will show as a separate line item. It is forecasted that for the average Ontario household, the federal carbon charge will add about $94 to your annual natural gas bill. The total cost will depend on how much natural gas you use, but can be determined by multiplying the federal carbon charge rate by the number of cubic metres of gas you used (which can be found on your natural gas bill).
The federal carbon charge went into effect in Ontario on April 1, 2019 and Enbridge Gas has been incurring these costs on customers’ behalf since that time. On July 4, 2019 we received approval from the Ontario Energy Board to include the federal carbon charge on our bill. We have tracked these incurred costs in approved deferral and variance accounts and will seek to recover them from customers at a later date, subject to OEB approval.
The federal government has indicated Ontario residents are eligible to receive a tax-free climate action incentive payment of up to $307 for an average Ontario family of four. The incentive can be claimed when you file your income tax return.

Now you know why you were eligible to apply for that carbon tax credit on your 2018 income tax returns-to offset this carbon taxation.

For my 2019 income tax return, I better claim the credit and hand it over to Mom, who has the bill to pay monthly. I had donated my credit this year to the ONT govt to help pay off debt.

Man! You are far more generous than I. I’m not willing to donate anything to the hypocrite Ford. Last time I checked - he and his cronies aren’t taking any cuts to their high expense accounts - nor are they practicing what they preach

In my area of the western GTA, it's not unusual to see a drop of 7 to 8 cents a liter, and occasionally more, between the prices at the same station in the morning and the late evening / early AM hours. And for those who aren't aware of it, the GasBuddy app makes it very easy to check prices that people have reported at all the nearby stations, including how long ago each report was received.

I seemed to notice that Wednesday afternoon or early evening had a good gas price when I was buying for the lawn mower.
