Has anyone tried Daiya products? Do they taste good? I am wanting to make a dairy free lasagna and saw a recipe using this product. TIA

The cheesecake is amazing, the cream cheese, cheese shreds and yogurt are fairly icky.

Hmmm...for half price I'll try them, but won't hold my hopes out.
    Thanks.

I'm not a vegetarian at all, but I like the shredded "cheese." It doesn't taste like cheese but has a good taste. Make sure to eat it heated, because it tastes different

I've heard that some people love it and others not so much. I think that with any meat or animal by-product substitutes, they all taste different depending on the brand, so if you don't like the daiya cheese you may end up loving another brand's dairy-free cheese so if you don't end up liking Daiya, don't let that discourage you from trying another product of theirs or a completely different brand.

If you don't end up liking Daiya, I've heard this brand is good:

    According to their FAQ:

Can I freeze Daiya products? Our Shreds can be frozen, but they shouldn't be refrozen after they've been thawed. We don't recommend freezing our Blocks, Slices, Cream Cheese Style Spreads, or Cheezy Mac as it can affect their texture

The Daiya pizzas were $8.99 plus tax each at my Loblaws --> if you stock up and get 9 of them, your total comes to $80.91, which pretty much is about $4.50 each (you technically pay the tax on the regular price if we are getting really technical here).

Are these frozen? I believe there is NO tax on frozen pizza as it comes under groceries like bread, milk, eggs etc.

Only prepared hot pizza at the deli counter has tax on it like HST/GST as they are making it for you and providing a service.
