Where to buy a sewing machine?

I'm looking for a simple, not fancy sewing machine that does the job. Any ideas? I'm new to sewing machine (not for me, gift)

I got a Kenmore sewing machine at Sears that I love. They go on sale all the time and have a wide range of features. Mine came with a hard case that covers the machine when I am not using it so it doesn't get dusty...I love that. Sears also offered at the time an introduction class to teach you how to use the machine you bought. It was nice touch to their customer service!

Any idea about the europro sewing machine.

I have a europro sewing machine and I would not recommend it, I payed very little for it but even that was too much.

I got mine at Walmart for about $90 and it works fine, not as many options as my mum's but great for small sewing jobs I do

I've had mine for years - it's a Kenmore from Sears. I just recently took it to get a "tune up" from a man who has been working with sewing machines for 50 yrs. He told me Kenmore is above average quality (not the best but far from the cheap plastic ones) basically you get what you pay for!

I got my Kenmore from Sears, 25 years ago. It has sewn and repaired, everything from doll blankets to evening gowns. It's still going strong. The fanciest stitch, zigzag. I'm thinking that maybe I might invest in a fancy embroidery one someday;
or maybe not. :)

Singer for me and I never looked back, and probably never will. You can get a cheaper model Singer at Walmart I think. Mine is 10 years old and a student version - it was expensive at the time - but it's seen everything from repairs to wedding dresses, and still going strong!

I got one for my mom at zellers on sale for $80 something

kenmore sounds really good then.

There is a singer store here that sells tuned up tradins often they will have very nice basic machines that were built when craftsmanship ment something. Look for well maintained Kenmore or Singer one with more metal than plastic. Myself i have a Brother I got for 200 at wallmart 10 years ago. It's mainly plastic but has served me well enough. but when i see the used models at the Singer store that are far better ofr far less (many around 75$)...

I had a White for years. It served me well and when I bought my new one I gave it to my sister in law.

You can buy it from walmart and also you can buy a used one for a lot cheaper but then you will have to have it tuned and cleaned before you can run it, so you will not end up saving any money.
