Thanks for the reminder about the upcoming credits that residents can get on their next income tax return filing, @tjthemanto ! Will use my credit to pay for a couple of things. Now I wait to see when my income tax package will come in the mail, so I can get it sent to CRA by mid-Feb. for quickest ever assessment by post.
It gets tricky figuring out which entity's version of rural addresses apply to various things like property taxes, utility rates and income tax credits. Every entity has their own definition of rural.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

The Government of Canada also intends to shift Climate Action Incentive payments to quarterly amounts paid through the Canada Revenue Agency’s benefit system, as early as 2022. Details will follow at a later date."This is the Way." The Mandalorian

Yes, another reminder that the CAI is likely moving to a quarterly installment format.
The CAI rebate (Line 45110) can be claimed on your income tax return and it will be automatically applied to your balance owing for the year or added to any refund you are entitled to. These rebate payments will move to quarterly payments starting in mid-2022. That means if you're wondering about carbon tax rebate cheque dates, it depends on how soon you're able to file your tax return. The sooner you file your return, the sooner you'll get your rebate. You can usually start filing your taxes once you get your T4 on the last week of February.

Yes. Apparently the first Qtrly payment will be in July - 2022.
There won't be a Qtrly payment in January - 2022 or April - 2022.
To help CRA & to give them time to adjust with the change to Qtrly payment from one lumsum payment, they will give the first payment in July.
I think the July payment will be double of the regular Qtrly payment to make up for the delay.
Unnecessary complications they are creating. One time lum sum was so much better!

Yes, the lump sum allowed individuals or families to get any pressing need attended to with the cash. Spring spree, as it were, for school or commuting needs, household/yard matters or even debt repayment. Could be used for Easter holiday needs if that was the only money available for new outfits/footwear, food, or any charity giving.
It could be a long hot wait for summer cash-about 1-1/2 months of humidity and such!"This is the Way." The Mandalorian

I'm wondering why Ontario residents get less? And will the rebate slowly increase each year?

Ontario is one of the provinces that did not have some kind of established carbon tax program (other than for gas/energy), so federal government set the rebates for Ontario (so amounts can be slightly lower than for provinces with established carbon tax program). As far as I know, each year, the rebate does go up but this program ends in about two years' time.
