Bonus: mission ridge... Congrats habs sweeps the day !!
Z-Man, what is your take on another Leaf debacle with the firing of Burkie? What this does, in my opinion, is it makes Kessel go from an untouchable to a touchable! They lose 2 first rounders (Tyler Seguin) and a 2nd rounder! His value today, is down from what it was in 2009! Are they going to get Luongo?
That's a very hard question to anwser Habs
They gave up so much for him that they just can't let him go right now.
Actually, he and Lupul were a good pairing last year.
Also, you are correct in assuming that his value has diminished. Guess that it goes back to the maxim, buy low, sell high.
Toronto did just the opposite.
We'll just have to wait and see what he does this year. Van Riemsdyk should help that line as well.
It may even make them a top flight line. Hard to tell since they have never played together.
We'll just have to wait and see.
As far as Luongo, I think that he has made it pretty clear that he really doesn't want to come to Toronto.
Why bother getting a guy who doesn't want to be here and may not play up to his potential.
Lot of fairly decent talent on the Marlies. Give them a chance.
Also give Reimer and Scrivens a chance to prove themselves.
Everything really comes down to how quickly they get out of the gate.
If they start like they did last year (5-0), then that confidence may give them a huge boost.
Let's wait and see what happens.
As far as the firing of Burke, I believe he was give all the opportunity to turn this team around over the past few years and they are no better today than they were when he came here. Probably time for some new blood to take over.As often happens in an organization, new management at the top usually filters down to new management below.
Time will tell how this will all pan out over the next couple of years. Besides, I personally felt that he was too brusque and rough around the edges for the likes of an organization like Toronto
Cheers
Well said and thought out! I personally think Scrivens should be your starting keeper! That top line, may not produce what they did in the past, as I also think(especially Kessel,Lupul and Phaneuf) are Burke guys, and they may not be too happy with the situation upstairs! They will not start 5-0, as they will lose in Montreal the first game! Boy did MLSE make a shocking splash today, just when fans in Leafdom were settling in to another playoffless season!
Bet you a beer on the outcome of that first game in Montreal
Pretty bold prediction on the "playoffless season" though. Guess that we will just have to wait and see what happens.
As a matter of fact, habs why don't we have the same bet for each game they play against each other and we can meet up and collect at the end of the regular season.
Cheers
One more thing that I just noticed regarding your last post regarding Kessel, Lupul and Phaneuf.
I have found that loyalty generally is to those who sign your next pay cheque.
Cheers
