Well the Jays seem to have gotten considerably stronger with the acquisition of Melvin Upton Jr (previously known as BJ Upton). Not only do they have another outfielder signed for next year, they add considerable speed on the base paths as Upton is a threat to steal. He is also an outstanding outfielder who can play all three outfield positions.
All this comes at a cost of a Class A pitcher from Bluefield, Hansel Rodriguez, but San Diego will eat $16.5 of the $21 million remaining on his contract. Jays have him under control until the end of the 2017 season,
This also puts additional pressure on Saunders and Bautista to come to terms on a new contract.
