    My nest door neighbour died last July. (actually committed suicide)
    Today would have been her birthday, & they're having a "b/day party" 4 her.
    The cars have started arriving.
    I don't get it. Oh well, to each their own.

    I also know a lot of other families, not only in our neihbourhood, but also in another, who do the same thing your neighbour is doing for their dearly departed family members. One of the reason is probably when she was around, they never have the chance and/or she didn't want to have a birthday party/celebration. Now that she's not around, it is their chance or opportunity to show their love for her without any objection from her, that's why they are doing this for her, and also for them.
