So, does absence make the heart grow fonder OR is out of sight, out of mind… is it that the time spent apart makes you care for a person even more OR you don't think about them when you can no longer see them…
I never supported absence makes the heart grow fonder. Im not saying that the opposite is true but staying away from someone special doesn’t make me love them more. However it does make me realize their importance in my life.
I also think it depends on the relationship between the two people. We play many different roles in life: sons/daughters, mothers/fathers, sister, brother, friend, lover, wife/husband, co-worker, you name it.
The relationship with my family (mother, father and brother) does not change with time O
I know people with a long distance relationship strongly support that their hearts grow fonder while they’re apart, thats what helps them through
I dunno about that case...
One last thing I wanted to say, I know that many consider the phrase out of sight out of mind to apply to objects rather than people but I must say that I can't help thinking of people when I hear the phrase!
So what do u think? What’s your point of view? :-kThis thread is currently associated with: N/A

interesting
hmm... i go with "absence makes the heart grow fonder"
spending time away from someone special definitely makes me love them more, think about them all the time and thus come to believe that they are truly special
thats my view point

Well it actually depends on who the person is...if it's someone you hate well then abscence might make you think about how much you hate that person..well that's just my opinion.

If it is a loved-one, then absence makes the heart grow fonder.
But, if it's someone you could care less about then- out of sight out of mind.
How many friends have you drifted apart from and even forget about?
Yet still there are friends that you may not talk to and always wonder about them and the second you hear from them you want to see them or get to know them all over again.

I personally think that it depends on the absence-how long it is, why it occurs and if it is mutally wanted in the first place. If you are forced into an "absence" situation it could go either way depending on how you deal with it for example. Similarly if the absence is really long or at least has no known end point it can lean more towards the "out of sight out of mind" in a sense as it can become easier to get back into your "old life" with old friends (or new ones for that matter),etc,etc....that being said it's *good* to miss a person so that you never take forgranted that they're *there* ... so i think the best thing is absence in short bouts now and then leads to fonder or at least always appreciated ..
ideally anyhow

It depends on how long you have known the person, and what level your relationship is. If you are casual friends, then out of site out of mind. But, if you have been side by side for years, then I think that you would definately miss them and make more of an effort to stay connected.
