First of all, being the OP, THIS WAS NOT MY CAT.
This unfortunate experience happened to a sister of a friend of mine. So to throw accusations at me is both unfair and just rude! Read the first line of the original post again.
I truly feel for the woman. I'm not going to try an explain the story again.
For those of you who are claiming animal cruelty, I agree, but it's not entirely the fault of the woman. If you were in hysterics and being embarassed in front of the entire security department and people walking through, would you honestly be thinking straight? IDK. I'm not going to get into a fight about this.
And to OmegaRed: do you work there?!? I can't even believe that something like that would have been said. Go ahead, report me ... remember IT WASN'T MY CAT. I just thought this would be a story that people would be upset by, which apparently I was right.
Anyways, enough said from me. I still can't believe that people are attacking ME, when I made it clear in the first sentence of my original post, and then later on again on the first page.SwagBucks.com - the premiere digital dollar. How in the hell did she tape up the air holes when the only thing she needed to tape was the top of the bag?
She's an idiot. Sure, they should have helped her, but it isn't their fault. She killed her cat. I do not understand how she could make that mistake at all. Even if distracted.
Also that is a horrible name for a cat.

Try not to take those aweful comments personally. The majority of us do feel for the woman that you wrote about. The other messages look very suspicious and if this person(s) does work at the airport it appears that they are panicking over the situation. Why else would they go to a Canadian Freebie website and send threatening and accusing messages to complete strangers?

I forwarded this onto consumerist.com - they'll likely be in touch with info on CEOs to contact and the like.
Make sure she finds someone to talk to about the "if only"s that will be streaming through her head... people can talk themselves into pretty bad places if they don't get it out and such.
This is heartbreaking. *dries tears*
[Edit] The sludge of the internet aka "trolls" have decided to cause drama and such in this thread. They're such a joy (sarcasm) but thankfully their attention span is limited to the span of time they get replies / talked about.
Firefox users (and other browsers, probably): there are scripts / add-ons that let you automatically block certain people's posts from being shown, they're usually based on the forum software used. I'll look into what this forum uses and report back with links.Last edited by AmandaKerik; Thu, May 14th, 2009 at 02:08 AM.

I agree with KSShazer, you should have checked on your wailing cat rather than just sitting there.

There are 3 sides to every story. The lady with the cat. The TSA . And the fact of what really happen. I'am sure no pet owner that cares enough to travel with her cat would not cause any harm to it. As would any pet owner. I cannot believe the negitive and judgemental comments made. And the threats. Anyone that has lost a pet would understand. No one should accuse this person of anything. What is wrong with people ,this could happen to anyone of us. All she did was the best she could at the time. Everyone else gets very smart after the fact and has lots of advice. where were all the wise ones in the airport. Who cares what she called her cat!!! Like its anyone business.

So because someone doesn't feel sorry for the owner for the owner's own mistake is wrong?
Let's review the situation.
The TSA supervisor made a mistake of not allowing private screening, True.
Did the owner sufficiently prepare her pet for traveling, as multiple cats owner that travel alot, it is best to get your pet used to traveling when young, there's a reason for that. and that's because
Fact: The TSA can ask you to open your package to check what's inside, whether there's animal or not, and this can occur MANY time.
It is not the TSA's job to ensure the cat wellbeing, nor is it in their priority.
It is the OWNER's job, and it was the OWNER that sealed the AIRVENT, and kept on going, even though the cat was distressed, and only realized the cat was dead, later.
The fact is, the cat was dead, because of the OWNER's OWN ACTION.
The TSA Agent do not, nor are they required to give special treatment to a pet owner, willingly bringing their pet onboard, it is the OWNER's own resonsibility to do what is necessary.
There is a reason each airline only allow certain number of pet onboard, allergy, close confined space, etc.
Is it sad, yes, but could it have been prevented, absolutely.
Who is at fault, the owner for her action that lead to the death of her cat, and her inability to notice her cat calling for help. HER OWN ACTION, not the TSA, not anyone else.
