Fire Sale!
Okay so my brag is not about getting items but about GIVING THEM!
There was a fire in our community on the weekend and 7 children plus 3 adults are now living in a hotel with 2 houses burned to the ground. Having had my house burn down as a child, I know what it's like to be in this situation. Mostly I remember the Red Cross bag we were given. I had a Popsicle Pete towel and stuffed animal that were given to me as my own. They were absolutely critical to me in the months following the fire. I still mourn the loss of that stupid stuffed dog. (Apparently he was so gross that my mom felt the need to throw him out a year later without telling me.)

That is so generous and kind of you. Hopefully people in your community can pull together to help this family through this difficult time.

What a kind, wonderful thing to do.

Yuck, I know the feeling. Our house burned down when I was 4 also. All that stuff will be greatly appreciated. :top:

you are doing a wonderful thing.I am sure the families will cherish your thoughtfullness and generosity in their time of need. Thanks for helping.

Well, I'm just thrilled that I can pay it back some how. I'm a cash poor philanthropist. $50 in coupons to each of the 2 families plus the smartcanucks website addy on a post it might be inspiring. :)

thats' a good idea, I would have never thought of that! Maybe they'll be able to rebuild and become SC's like us.

I just thought it was fitting to add coupons since that was how I got the majority of the items to donate in the first place.
-
so generous of you- I'm sure your items are much needed and appreciated!

how kind! I'm sure it will be very appreciated. :)

Thats great of you! I worked at a fast food restaurant a while back and we had a fire. I was the manager in charge at the time and also the one who found the fire, the place had to be completely gutted on the inside. I felt so sick and upset about it and a month later when I came out of shock I had to go for counseling and get medication for it (I always considered it 'my restaurant and my employees'). There was one question that always plagued me especially when I would hear about a house fire, if I felt this bad with just my work place how bad is it for people when its their homes. These people must be absolutely devastated, no matter what happens you can always go home and having that taken from you I just can't imagine. I'm sure they'll appreciate everything.

That is so nice of you! I'm sure that the families will greatly appreciate your kind gesture.

Thank you for being such a kind and generous person. When my nephew`s house burned 3 years ago they experienced the generosity of friends and neighbours.

You rock.
We had a major fire happen here just outside of Halifax recently, a brush fire that destroyed I think eight homes and damaged several others. The number of people evacuated was in the hundreds.
It really made a lot of us think about what we'd do in that situation, if we were given five minutes notice to get out. What do you take with you? It really made us think about how much of our home really is irreplacable, regardless of how much insurance money we might get.
I'm sure you'd be grateful to have survived, nothing beats that. But Imagine your belongings being reduced to NOTHING.
You did a wonderful thing. I think things like soap, razors, deodorant, etc. were fabulous things to give.
