When I'm making a creamy sauce, melt some butter in a pan, gradually add an equal amount of flour. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly until it's the thickness you want. Add shredded cheese if that's what floats your boat. It's a roux I think?

I don't know what theyre called .. but its like pulled pork in a bbq sauce with noodles sauteed in the drippings and sauce and steamed carrots.
I also have some homemade chicken/veggie broth simmering and i'll make a soup and chicken salad for lunch sandwiches with the chicken once its out the broth ..

I love busy cooking days (not so much the cleanup... but hey .. this preggo lady loves her food )

Thanks, that's what I ended up doing, I first sauteed minced onions and some garlic, made the roux, whisked in milk, and added some sour cream and cheese. Mixed in the crab, put it in a casserole, added a butter and crushed cornflakes topping, and put it in the oven. Turned out great!

When I do make a white sauce, or cheese sauce, for a casserole, though, I never seem to get the 'creaminess' right. It may seem 'loose' enough when I mix in the other ingredients (whether crab in this case, or chicken, etc.), but after it's in the oven it thickens of course.
At least last night's wasn't gluey, it was good!

Ah, cooking... try and try again!

Tonight for supper will be BBQ sirloin steaks - I'll marinate them with a dry rub for the day, then put on sauce before they hit the q. To go with, roasted potatoes and a big salad (missed last night).

That's how I do a seafood gratin! I thought you meant you wanted a Chinese sauce earlier lol.
I also add shrimp to the crab sticks, and/or fish.
I also don't get it as creamy as I want it to sometimes. I guess because I don't usually follow a recipe for this and end up using too little flour. Then I have to add more cheese lol.

There's a recipe I tried once and they put a mix of panko and melted butter as the topping. But I will try the cornflakes! more nutrients lol.
Gotta try this to make my son eat his cereals lol.

If the weather is nice, Sunday is usually a family picnic at the beach. The weather looks promising so far (although it is very windy right now). Its usually a potluck and everyone brings something delicious and we all share! I haven't decided what I will do yet, prob take the hibachi and bbq some steak and make a potato salad, maybe macaroni, rolls, etc keep it as simple as possible !
