Yesterday I made beef and barley soup in the slow cooker which the husband enjoyed, but I was out at my volunteer gig until 10. Luckily they had lots of snacks at my gig last night, so I didn’t starve😎
We have friends coming over for appies and drinks tonight and so far the menu is bacon wrapped shrimp,
homemade garlic dip with crudités, crispy Asian chicken wings and a cheese tray. I’m going to the bakery to buy some macaron and pick up a couple bottles of wine. These friends are moving to Vancouver in a couple of weeks and I will miss them💙
I just put in a cabbage roll casserole.
Went on a hike Friday and came across an insane amount of berries (blueberries & partridge berries) only had a couple of water bottles for containers so picked some...and went back 2 days in a row to pick berries...the blueberries are really, really sweet  ...and plentiful!! I had pancakes twice on the weekend...and this evening made a newfoundland Jiggs dinner complete with blueberry pudding! turkey, stuffing, salt meat, peas pudding, cabbage, turnip, carrot, potato and gravy

It is supposed to get pretty warm today but I am hoping it does not. As long as it does not my plan is Cheese Stuffed Pasta with Roasted Tomatoes, Spinach, Mushrooms, maybe some bacon in a creamy Parmesan sauce. Also thinking I will make a Cesar Salad and Garlic Bread to go with it. But again depends how hot it gets today
Going out for Halibut and chips in Mississauga, no really good places here in Milton.

Yesterday was clear the fridge of leftovers. Son was over for supper, so that helped put a dent in things.
Tonight, I had mushroom soup - really good homemade from Gk restaurant, butterflied shrimp, rice, mixed veggies, garlic toast. Also got lemon roasted potatoes, but I didn't like them and can't figure out why, I usually do.
I was able to eat half of the meal, so that was pretty good for me.
Husband had liver with bacon and onions, with fried.
We had the most gorgeous day on the river watching the sockeye spawn...came home late and starving! Had homemade mushroom soup, garlic toast and red wine. Now sitting on the sofa watching Netflix. I love days like this...fresh air, nature, good food and wine, and sharing a cozy space with dh❤️❤️
Aw, sueshe, that's so nice!
Tonight will be homemade chicken soup, can't wait! It's another cool day, plus it will be good medicine for my lingering cold.
Chili and toast
Thank you, it was an amazing day! I love homemade soups and my husband is nuts for them. His mom never made them, they always had canned soup, and he always appreciates my efforts. Sorry you still have a cold but the soup will surely fix it up!
We went on a hike to some local falls this afternoon and stopped at a deli on our way home. We are having a crudités platter with homemade garlic dip and a charcuterie as well. Again my appetite has been off and I’m hoping I’ll eat enough tonight❣️

Tonight it is still nippy- so a night for comfort food. My British Mum used to sometimes make homemade french fries, fried eggs and baked beans for dinner-it is quite yummy and haven't had it forever-besides I think back in the day all 5 of us kids liked it and it was quick, cheap and easy to make.
Lizzie, my Ukrainian mother did the same, except with golden brown fried sliced potatoes. We still like that combo and have it once in a while, but adding ham or some meat for husband.
Supper tonight was a bowl of homemade chicken soup, bun with sliced roasted chicken breast and lots of greens.
