Pork steak, onion gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans. I made sweet potato fries too, but yuck. I still don't care for sweet potato.

I checked out a few sites and coated the cut sweet potato with a bit of cornstarch. Then I put in some olive oil and some seasoning salt. Baked for about 45 min turning once. My brother said they were okay but I just don't care for any sweet potato dish.

Ok, next time try this. Haven't met anyone that doesn't like them.
In a large bowl, pour enough olive oil that would coat the fries (but not too much)
Add chili powder, garlic and onion powder, salt and pepper to the oil.(you can be quite generous with amounts) Stir .
Put raw sweet potato fries in bowl and toss them thoroughly.
Spread them on baking sheet evenly.
Bake in preheated 400 oven for 20 min or so. DO NOT turn over halfway. There's no need.
Let me know how you like them. . .

Tonight's dinner:
striploins on BBQ with baked potato, sautéed onions and mushrooms with green beans. And the best part is enjoying it with my wonderful man and kids

There's a couple+ parties later , I'm hoping to end and ring in the new year with my family at my Uncle's house ..there will be a smorgasbord of food..I'm making bacon wrapped scallops that I've been saving..and I have a bunch of things for the oven WONG WING appetizers! lol, egg rolls, calamari, potato skins, etc..we have an odd tradition here..started when I was a kid...at midnight, we have fireworks, guns are fired in the air (same for weddings), flares, etc and all the men run in their skivvies for several blocks, like a polar run I guess and it has grown over the years with funny costumes, etc..and tomorrow one uncle is hosting a late lunch not sure if it will be turkey or ham and another hosting dinner...so I have to be a little good tonight

^ Can't wait to see the pics, lol!
My dear, sweet husband is making schnitzel for supper; our son is coming over, so that will be three of us very happy. I'll make the sides - some sort of potato, veg, and salad.

Today I made about 11 Chinese food dishes.
Honey garlic meatballs
Sweet & sour chicken
Beef & broccoli
Chicken curry
Chicken & mushrooms
Char Siu pork
Aloha rice
Egg foo yung
Egg Rolls - from a box
Chicken balls - from a box
A sort of chop suey with the leftover bean sprouts and various fresh veggies.
There are a ton of leftovers. So I know what we'll be eating for a couple of days.Last edited by padyofurniture; Thu, Dec 31st, 2015 at 06:06 PM.

New Years Eve means appetizers and snacks in our house but I am cheating this year:
Heating up some pizza from a few nights ago (not worth making more)
Homemade Mozzarella Sticks
Shrimp Ring
If anyone is still hungry we have:
Nachos with Cheese Dip
Party Mix
Chicago Mix Popcorn
