I'm behind on posting!
Dispite my sick kitty cat situation, I was still able to host thanksgiving dinner for 15 :-)
I made turkey (which came out super moist!), stuffing, mashed potatoes, roasted sweet potatoes, garlic brussels sprouts, homemade gravy and cranberry sauce, shrimp/potato salad, baked salmon fillet, deviled eggs and my wonderful guests offered to bring desserts!
I did most of the prepping the day before and cooked some of the dishes in the morning to reheat in the oven for dinner to make life easier.
It totally paid off, because I was relatively stress free and was able to enjoy my company rather than being stuck in the kitchen!
Made some of the items vegan friendly or made a vegan version of it for my bf. He brought over some meatless meat and was a happy camper. :-)
Well...I had my shopping list all made out from the flyers, then napped, woke up around 1:00 a.m. and decided to finally watch that movie Forks Over Knives. I am most definitely adjusting that shopping list now, scratching that bacon on sale I was gonna get DH. That movie just makes you queasy thinking what meat is doing to our bodies. Ugh! Why did I marry a caveman?!
O.K. the thread is What's For Dinner..sorry..ranting over.
I had leftover lazy cabbage rolls and a small leftover piece of Basa fillet, cup of decaf.
New menu starts tomorrow. Just not sure what I am going to make for us all yet, but will certainly be loaded with extra veggies!
Had takeout yesterday - we definitely needed a change from turkey all week. Man, did I scarf down that steamed broccoli quickly!
I'm working all weekend so my lunch today will consist of thanksgiving leftovers before I go to work, and a bagel for supper. Tomorrow will consist of a bagel for lunch and thanksgiving leftovers for supper when I get home really late. Apparently I don't know how to cook for one person cause I think I may be eating leftovers into Nov! LOL!
Tonight it's homemade pizza with garden salad, this afternoon after nap time the girls and I will make chocolate covered strawberries for dessert....so good!
For lunch I had 8oz new york steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus, with 3 smirnoff ice at the elm street lounge in the delta chelsea, little typsy to be honest lol. ;)
Tonight I will be bbqing the shrimp that will be marinated in garlic and white wine ;)
honey garlic pork stir fry and long grain wild herb rice
Tonight I'm gonna head to the monarchs pub at the delta for their dance the night away saturday. I don't dance but I'll sit there and have dinner and then I like to listen to the music and watch the other "idiots" dance, haha, lol. ;)
I am having fun vicariously through your posts cab!! They are cracking me up! I laughed at GoJays post about the time change on the flight!! Ooops...I'm in the dinner thread again, uh...hmmm, haven't yet cooked, just shopped today.
homemade pizza......dough is rising, sauce is simmering & I'm waiting for my son to come & look after prepping the toppings.
I love having the oven on when it's cold & damp outside.
:) :) :) :)
tonight was my SILs famous taco salad. first time i made it and my dd1 said it was the best taco salad evverrrrrrrrrrrrr. it calls for doritos, mayo, french dressing among a few other things. garlic bread on the side.
Oh Loocie that sounds so yummo! I agree, warm kitchen, chill on the outside, enjoy that pizza!
It's warm here so I'm bbqing again. I have some nice pork chops that I stuffed. They are on the q, we will be using up the balance of the potato salad I made the other day, along with a bunch of fresh veggies and blue cheese dip.
Went to the farm today and stocked up potatoes, cabbage, carrots, beets, celery, romaine, garlic, peppers.
So tonight I made potato wedges in the oven and a salad of romaine and red peppers with nutritional yeast and a little dressing.
DD with the giant celery we got lol
Not sure. I made a baked cheese loaf with crackers to bring to a surprise 30th Birthday party for one of our friends. There will be some other appetizers, but it is being held in a room at Super 8, so not sure what other food options will be available. Thinking about eating some before we go.
Decided to have room service and then head down to the pub afterwards..;)

put DH's Prime Rib roast in the oven at 5:00 a.m. the smell is wafting everywhere. Making another GF loaf of bread in the bread-maker...did I mention I bought a brand new one? ( Black & Decker...all computery like buttons.) Well I am going to try to stay strong this week, thinking stir fry time again since I have so many crisp veggies.
Vegetable soup, with sammies made from toasted rye bread - baked sausage and onions.
a couple weeks ago NF had turkeys on for 95c/lb and i had enough gas$$ to get a free turkey - they had a smaller one for $7.09 so we're having that today. its in the oven and smells heavenly. we'll have stuffing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy, carrots and mashed turnip. maybe make some crescent rolls to go with it.
lunch- cereal and toast with pbj
dinner - will be braised chicken thighs with chinese greens and rice.
tonight is 2 easy chicken recipes
1st is called Celebration Chicken
1/2 c. ketchup
