The soup was a fail...not enough in it to keep me full for an hour so I ended up making a salad too LOL!
bacon, chicken, breadcrumb salad from Superstore.
Well, that spurs me to make a confession..... I had my first baconator Sunday for lunch. My son has had them before, but I'm more of a junior burger with tomato and lettuce kinda gal...
First of all, I didn't realize it was two patties, cheese, and bacon - and that's it. Son told me later that there's a son of a baconator, which I probably might have liked better.
Anyway, it was just meat... couldn't even taste the bun. Mind you, it was good meat - so that says something.
We got the Canadian combos they've been advertising, so it came with poutine and a drink. Poutine was actually pretty decent - tons of cheese and the gravy was okay as was the portion size.
Then I saw the bill..... OMG! Total for two meals was almost $26!!! OMG!!!
Def going back to Whopper Wednesdays, or anywhere else with coupons!
(sorry, this probably belonged in the rant section, duh....)
^^^ yep, we went to Wendy's a few weeks ago... $22 for two. I was shocked, and hated every minute of it because I could have made about sixteen 1/4 pound burgers, about 10 pounds of potatoes into awesome homemade fries and a case of pop :P
Last night was South Street Burgers - Veggie with onion rings.
Tonight Im making a coconut curry with tofu over basmati rice and sauteed garlic kale on the side
Canned chicken Corn chowder
I made pork tenderloin with roasted potatoes and gravy tonight!!! Mmm! Tomorrow I'm making tacos!
Unusual for us midweek to have such a big meal, but we had top sirloin steak last night. Haven't had beef for ages! Couldn't get to the BBQ because of the snow (landlord shovelled off roof), so I just had marinated it all day, then did it in the electric frying pan, and it was okay. Served with tons of sauteed garlicky mushrooms, roasted potato chunks, and Caesar salad.
last night was homemade pizza, caesar salad, and Presidents choice Honey garlic wings for dh.
tonight i think is going to be a ham in the slowcooker, mashed potatoes, baked beans (blech but the kids and dh like them) aand some carrotts.
Since today is DH's birthday I had considered taking the family to Buffalo Wild Wings for the first time. As it turned out funds were tighter than I expected so I decided tonight I will make deep fried wings(Buffalo & Caesar), with french fries and carrot/celery/dip combo!
chili and homemade biscuits since it's a school night and I'm only on dish 3 of 4 of the chili I made...I also had to make a special batch of vegan chili last night for my sister this weekend so I now have 4 containers of it in the freezer! I'm going to be eating chili for a long time LOL
Pizza pops
For lunch today I made the best potatoes ever!!! I sliced them thin and cooked them in the oven at 400 with cheese and bacon on top. Delish!! They were crispy like chips but oven baked.
Pickled beets and M&M`s mac and cheese Not bad but I prefer homemade
turkey sausages, mixed veggies from costco (SO freakin good), potato/cheese perogies.
Homemade beef stew was carrots and potatoes, based made from garden cocktail. Adds such a great flavour and makes it the only stew I eat.
Lunch was boiled eggs and hashbrowns with fried onions, supper will be chili and biscuits same as last night because I have class! Also picked up a free coffee at McDonald's when I was out doing some running around for work. Love free coffee promos!
Bacon, eggs and toast!
Fish and Chips
5 minute dinner for me, I made honey garlic crispy chicken. I microwaved Hampton House chicken strips from costco (I know, I know, but I used my food thermometer!) to fully cooked (placed them on a plate with a ramekin half full of water in the middle, keeps stuff moist in the microwave!) and then stuck them in a nonstick frying pan with no oil to crisp up. Put honey and garlic into a microwave safe cup and heated til liquid, then added soy sauce, stirred and poured over chicken strips right in the pan! Flipped once they were well coated on one side, and took off heat. Let them sit for a few minutes to let the honey harden on the outside a little.
It bubbles like crazy but if you have a good nonstick pan (ours is Lagostina from Canadian Tire for $10 on sale) the mess slides right out with some hot water.
This is one of the best dinners I can make in a snap, and tastes fine with leftover refrigerated chicken strips too.
fish sticks, green beans, kd
I made cabbage rolls, farmers sausage and perogies. The perfect meal, according to my husband...me, not so much; the things we do for love...Lemon Meringue pie for dessert.
I've been nursing a wicked cold, so I haven't been too adventurous lately. Tonight it was leftover meat loaf and some mashed potatos.
marstec, that would have been the perfect meal for me, too!
Last night tried Schneider's natural chicken wings - they were good, especially the awesome honey garlic sauce! However, not really enough in the 750g box for a meal for us. Served with lots of homemade pasta salad.
Well, I haven't been cooking a lot of anything these past few days. No appetite, poor dh was fending for himself mostly. Tonight I'm going to make him pork chops in a mushroom sauce. I'm going to head out to the farmers market and purchase some nice fresh cremini and chanterelle mushrooms for the sauce. I'll make some mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus to go along with it. That should make him feel better about my not cooking the past little while....I hope
cantalope or pears, not sure which yet
update- melon won
Chicken with mushroom soup over rice. Nice and warm and comfort food for the end of the week.
Baked sweet & sour chicken and garlic/pamesan/butter/parsley covered fusilini!
