Sausage on a bun & fries!
well the stir fry and chicken are done, however was so busy forgot to do my apple crisp. :(... well good thing there is fruit.
Dh roasted a nice picnic ham earlier today. We picked it up for $1/lb at the NF sale. We bought 2 extra for the freezer. Dh is not feeling that well at the moment, so not sure what supper will be. Probably fend for yourself tonight. I just had a toasted bagel with cream cheese. I can always have fresh roast ham with pineapple a little later this evening.
Neo Citrion and cold pills
so it appears 'mature chickens' is another word for don't even bother buying.. two of them gone to the garbage.. they were like rubber..
thank goodness we had sausage for back up.. and hubby is cutting up fruit for dessert.. love my man.
I had some leftover meatloaf, a toasted hamburger bun, a huge salad, and some fresh pineapple for desert.
Oh, I had that happen to me - didn't know what they were and I bought 'stewing hens' cheaply... uh, ick.
So today was my son's day to be sickie.... and not feeling like eating.
For supper, all I did was bake onions and wieners, which we had with toast/bread.
Gosh, I'm hoping to cook a 'real' meal tomorrow!
Had a midnight picnic under the glorious full moon and enjoyed bakery fresh buns in particular, which pleased me greatly! Yahoo!!
green salad
Last night was bbq hot dogs and tonight will be......................... bbq hot dogs AND chilli ;)
Tonight is a stuffed chicken breast (ham and cheese) with fries. I also have the crockpot going with a big pot of bean and barely soup which I will freeze the majority of. Yeah I know crazy to make soup now that summer is here, but I had all the ingredients from when it was still cold out and I need some quick prep meals for July since I am working the entire month straight with no days off. Oh the joys of having two jobs! LOL!
Oh and maple walnut ice cream for dessert :)
We're having chicken cutlets, spanish rice & I hope spinach salad.
I'm starting to really enjoy food again after all this time. I still love being a kitchen-puttering-kind-of-girl. Not the best cook in the world, but I do think I am in the top 20,000,000.
My d-i-l went strawberry picking & I can't wait to experience the heavenly flavour of fresh strawberries.
Tonight was BURGER night again!! But they were awesome!! I made my own beef patties as big as I could fit/shape in my hand, they were huge! (but a size safe enough for grilling) I cooked balsamic sweet onions on the side burner and bacon, melted goat cheese on the burger when they were done, put on a toasted bun with lettuce & tomato. Really good with the goat cheese and balsamic onions!! With it I had a garden salad and DH also had corn on the cob (also cooked on the BBQ)
So yesterday I stared at the package of ground beef and honestly was gah, I'm sick of everything I make with this - and got no inspiration online.
Looked in the fridge for magic and that helped a bit - found some sauerkraut and grated Swiss cheese mix I wasn't sure what I would do with.
Ended up being creative casserole time. I sliced potatoes thinly, mixed with a bit of oil and assorted seasonings, put in bottom of 9X13 and let crust up. Flipped them over and added -
Sauteed the ground beef with onions, garlic, mushrooms and sauerkraut. Put this overtop of the potatoes.
Was worried it would be dry, so poured some milk over (? shoulda made a sauce maybe)
Used 3/4 of bag of cheese over top, covered and baked about 1/2 hour.
Uncovered, to let cheese brown.
Well, let me tell you it was magnifique! Tasted very different than what I would usually make because of the sauerkraut and swiss, cheddar, parm cheese mix, but it was a hit. :)
We had it with a huge-O salad full of whatever I could find - romaine, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, onions, cucumber and carrots.
^ sounds yummy! Going to friends for dinner this evening so that will be a nice break from cooking - no doubt there will be tons of great food!
tv dinner
even though it's 30+ degrees outside and we don't have a/c I have a turkey in the oven. I pulled it out last week to cook for this week without thinking how hot it was going to be. on the up side, it smells heavenly in here. I put some potatoes in the crock pot with some reduced sodium chicken stock for mashed potatoes. i'll make corn and gravy later. oh, and stuffing in the turkey! cant forget the stuffing :)
Going to try the Butterball Turkey Burgers tonight. Got the box for $3 :)
On sale at Giant Tiger for $8 and used my $5 off coupon, I hope they are yummy!
Since it's "summer time" on the Wetcoast I am making hot and sour soup :P:P:P
Domino's Pizza (mushroom, half sausage, half ham)
It's hell hot here. I bought a rotisserie chicken and some potato salad at Costco last night (potato salad was $5 for a giant tub), so we're having leftovers of that tonight. DS wanted salmon, so I did cook that on the stovetop for him.
cut up a red, green, and orange pepper, and a bunch of broccoli, and then steamed it. mixed with my healthy lower-fat Alfredo, and tossed with fettuccine. I feel like we just had this, but it must have been three weeks ago.
Uncle Ben's Sweet and Sour Rice & Sauce :lolsign: Yes, I was very ambitious today.
I am making a caesar salad and going to have a potato with it. Orange Fanta is the drink of the night! Yahoo!!!
homemade pita pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, and old cheese. It was supposed to have peppers on it too but no frills wanted 2.97/lb for peppers which is crazy! I miss having a garden. Next year for sure one is happening on my balcony!
going to be making turkey soup today so dh and the girls will have that for dinner tonight and probably some turkey sandwiches/wraps.
