Went to a good old-fashioned church picnic today. BBQ burgers, corn on the cob, coleslaw, watermelon, and some baked goodies. The weather was windy, but it was fun all the same.
Well we are having pork ribs and again whatever I can rummage from mine and my neighbours gardens as they are away. Currently we have peas, saskatoon berries and rhubarb and they have lettuce, strawberries and broccoli so I don't think we will starve! Going away for 3 weeks on Wednesday so trying to clean out our fridge and pantry and to avoid shopping until we arrive in Vancouver.
Oh, lizzie, so nice you can use their garden produce!
For supper, I'm making meatballs with tomato sauce, pasta, and salad.
I have no idea...I think it will be a fend for yourself dinner:)
Since we had a late lunch no dinner was needed but to tonight it's going to be butter chicken:P
Yes Natalka it is very nice to have fresh produce next door for free-don't even have to drive to the store for it either. I took my friend some broccoli, peas, strawberries and lettuce over this morning and she was thrilled to have it. So far not sure what dinner will be but just made up a pot of homemade mac and cheese for lunch-cold day so that should be nice.
I have a meeting this afternoon and another one tomorrow afternoon, so I won't get home until 5:00pm each day. Wednesday might be even later because I am taking a day long course in town.
If I get going in the kitchen I plan on getting some chicken sliced up and marinating. I'll cook it with various fresh veggies and serve it over rice noodles. I got the idea for it last week on this thread.
Tonight we are having BBQ Pork over left over mashed potatoes with re heated roasted carrots and maybe a bun on the side. Weird I know most people put BBQ Pork on a bun but I love it over mashed potatoes.
After almost 4 weeks of mostly airport food, take out and bags of carrots... I think tonight I am just going to have Chunky Soup with a cup of tomato soup. And a Mango Smoothie. If I had the energy, i'd make grilled cheese sandwiches... but I don't.
Tonight I'm making a whole chicken with all the trimmings! :)
lean turkey meatballs (ground turkey seems to be on sale a lot here this week) in VH sweet and sour sauce cooked with sliced mushrooms/onions/peppers, white rice, green beans from our garden and some carrots. we baked a chocolate cake with bright lime green frosting and rainbow sprinkles for dessert :)
Last night was BBQ ribs with fries and corn on the cob. Just me tonight so something simple. Not sure yet.
toasted western sandwiches & vegetable soup.
feeling blah!
Well I was sorting through the freezer and found a single serving chicken kiev and a chicken diane so will throw that in the oven with some roast potatoes and serve with salad.
I think I'm going to have salted caramel ice cream for dinner :)
Change of plans for me! The old lady across the street once again, dropped off a nice care package (AKA... her kids and grand-kids didn't all show up this weekend).
I got chicken and mashed up taters and corn on the cob! Who needs a wife, when you got funny old ladies ready to feed you! Yahoo!!
I just finished a tomatoe, cucumber, onion, red pepper and feta salad.
Today has been the first night in over 10 days that I haven't had to work during supper. I made a stuffed chicken breast, broccoli with melted cheese, and garlic potato salad. In a few minutes I am off to make an apple crisp since I have the evening off and have apples with bad spots on them in the fridge!
Grilled cheese sandwich and a salad
left-overs and whatever scraps i can find.
Last night - had to have been the most frugal anniversary dinner ever - Mr. Noodles soup, barbecued hotdogs, cucumber and onion salad.
Pulled Pork! I just put a massive pork shoulder roast in the slow cooker..with so many around it will come in handy this evening and everyone can help themselves.
tonight i'm bbq'ing some chicken breasts, baked potatoes with lots of mushrooms/onions/peppers/garlic on top, and some farm fresh corn on the cob. love this time of year! so many great local veggies
Scalloped potatoes, meat loaf and peas
Tonight I'm making chilli and fresh buns. :) yummy!!
... loaded baked potatoes and oven-baked corn, and thanks to Mrs. January, mini strawberry cheesecakes for dessert (she has raspberry cheesecakes on her page, but I have frozen strawberries so I'm going with that). No idea what protein if any I'll make. Having egg salad at lunch so many not need any tonight.
Last night was spinach and feta quiche made with a gluten free pie crust.
Tonight homemade fried rice, and orange ginger tofu with a salad
for lunch, i'm making pork chops with gravy, mashed potato and carrots
i don't do instant mash anymore!
