my grandmother is the best cook in the world! she is having a roast beef dinner with all the trimmings, so today I just get to do the dishes :)
Last night was take out Chinese, I had no idea what time I would be home as I was on inventory at work. Our location finished in record time and were out by 4 pm (yippee us) I was going to make pasta but mom said she was not feeling well but suggest Chinese. I wanted no take out this week but I caved. I can't complain I have been wanting homemade Chinese for weeks so this was a good alternative and yummy.
Hamburger steak, gravy, mashed potatoes or homemade fries and vegies and of course a nice green salad. Dessert will be canned pears.
Smokies are smoked sausages.

Tonight, we'll have leftover lazy cabbage roll casserole, fried ham, pasta, with salad.
Smokies are about six inches long, a medium-grind pork sausage, most often garlicky and a bit peppery; some are very 'smokey' (which we like!). You can get varieties with cheese, too. Some varieities in other places might use a pork/beef mixture.
I found another name for them is bavarian smokies, because of the European influence.
From googling, I found out in the US they are called smoked bratwurst.
These are available in Quebec - just for an example

Totally made something different for supper than planned above - fried garlic sausage with onions, macaroni with mushroom sauce, with salad.
I have an obsession with veggie burgers these days...

Last night was roast beef in gravy over mashed potatoes. Nothing too fancy as we are trying to empty out the fridge.
Back to cooking after a week South! oh my!
Last night we made a roast beef with gravy, mashed potatoes, corn and salad. Not sure the plan for tonight yet.
Eggplant & Chickpea stew with couscous and sautéed spinach. :)
I am pretty bummed... About half hour after I got home I realized the slow cooker was smoking, unplugged it and I investigated. The elements must have gotten too hot (even though it was on low all day and I use it almost every day without problems) it melted the electrical cord! The thing is burnt black!! All I can say is thank god I was home!!
Now I have no slow cooker :( :(

Ohh that sounds bad :( I've never actually used a crockpot and left the house all day. I'm too afraid of something happening like that! I only use it usually on weekends on a day when I am home all day and can keep an eye on it. On the plus side they aren't too expensive to replace. Go to Walmart. My mom got be a fairly big one with a damask print on it for around $20-30 as a housewarming gift last year. I use it quite a bit in the winter time for soap, chili, stew, etc.
shmeelady, if you know someone 'handy', see if it just might be the cord which needs replacing.
Tonight for supper was M&M meat shop's Oriental Party Pak (my fave!), went perfectly with the leftover meatless lazy cabbage roll casserole.
my supper was good too. I bought some dry chicken coating mix the other day in a baggie so had to try it, so I coated chicken pieces (with skin) in ranch dressing and then used the coating mix on the chicken and baked in the oven..it was yummy!!! It crisped really well..and with it I scrubbed some russet potatoes and chunked those (with the skin too) and coated them with ranch dressing, parmesan cheese, S & P, and garlic powder and baked in the oven (but I gave those a 1/2 hr start ahead of the chicken) and baked in a deep dish and stirred every 10-15 mins so that the parm cheese didn't burn). It all tasted amazing!!
tomato soup with two slices of multigrain toast.
WOW that would scare me too, I am always afraid of the leaving the crock pot going well I am away.
Your dinner looks amazing.
That's very unusual, I wonder what happened? I use mine all the time (I have three). I often put it on top of the stove when I leave it for the day or overnight (obviously with the stove off), at least there's nothing flammable right there.
I have no idea  lol.
It was pretty old though, almost as old as me... Sooo that could very well have been the problem? I'm going to scope out a deal on a new one because I really cannot live without it. :P

I have a big batch of chili in the slow cooker..ground beef, onions, mushrooms, garlic, beans (3 different kinds, incl a few black beans,,shhhh) corn, 1/2 bottle left over salsa, couple of tomatoes that needed to be used, can tomatoes, tomato soup, tomato paste, S&P , chili powder..(and my secret ingredient a small parsnip diced very small, it adds a very nice different flavour).
Yesterday was dolma in Arabic style (sheikh el mahshi). It's very difficult to prepare (in terms of time, takes very much time), my husband and I made together (on Sunday beforehand, then on Monday it was cooked).
The recipe you can find here, but the one, we prepared, my mother-in-law taught us.

Vegetable soup!
Sweet husband brought home Toonie Tuesdays chicken for supper yesterday.
Last night was pasta with meat sauce and lots of cheese.
^ I don't know what to have today...that sounds good, maybe I will whip up some pasta as I have lots of ground beef and mushrooms to use up...(and make some extra sauce to use in those Pillsbury crescent rolls with lots of cheese as a quick appy when someone visits)
