spaghetti and ground beef meat sauce for tonight.
Organic vegan lentil loaf with mashed potatoes. First time making it so I'm hoping it's good! And of course a side salad.
just pulled the gluten free lasagna from the oven, I grumbled a bit at the dirty dishes I had to clean up before I even started cooking and assembling it but now I can relax, they have a meal to take into work.
hmm. I've gotten lucky lately. DH cooked on Tuesday night! :) He made some lovely chicken breasts with roasted potatoes and roasted red wine vinegar beets. yum!
Last night we had mushroom and red pepper lentil soup. Tonight I'm gonna toss some spicy pork sausages in the oven, some french fries and something resembling a vegetable in there. lol. It has to be quick, easy, and mind numbingly simple because we have after-school activities this evening.
KFC for supper tonight - the kitchen is full of dirty dishes, pots, etc. on every surface and the floor.
Good news, though - just got notification we can use the water again without boiling - YAY!
Uh, drat - so guess who is going to spend her evening washing dishes?
leftover pizza
It all started with beets on sale at IGA. I find the quality of their produce the best in town and the beets were no exception; very juicy and flavorful. I used the tops on Friday in a stirfry, the stems in a different stirfry Saturday, then borscht on Sunday. I had leftover cabbage so I made cabbage roll casserole for supper last night and it will be leftovers tonight.
tonight was pizza...made my own dough...used tomato sauce, oregano..part skim mozzarella, pepperoni, salami, ham, onion (from my garden), mushrooms, pineapple...and ..black olives...built just like that...it was delish...note to self: do not eat more cheese than you grate!! :)
My version of Cincinnati chili.
Picking up pizza and garlic fingers on the way home from work tonight. No cooking= great start to the weekend. :)
I see there is a pizza theme going on here! Gosh I could go for pizza.
However, DH is making Pho soup. Yum yum! So as much as I might want pizza, I get a meal that I DON'T have to cook and that makes me happy too! :)
last piece of leftover pizza and my annual pumpkin pie.
Son came over for supper, and I made the promised fish - lightly fried sole, had with roasted potatoes and onions, Caesar salad before.
Dessert much later - pumpkin pie and whipped cream, apple pie for husband.
Dh and I took my parents out for sushi
I'm cooking a small roast today since it's a little chilly this morning. We have eating a lot of potatoes lately, so I probably will make rice and a soup with it. :)
Let the eating marathon begin! this evening my aunt is having a big family dinner, baked ham, scalloped potatoes etc...there will be a lot of food...I'm bringing my usual, dessert & wine :-) ..haven't decided on dessert yet, probably pumpkin pie (which isn't big here for some reason) ...tonight there's a birthday party thingy I'm making my taco dip that everyone asks for (I add a secret ingredient ..lol) and honey garlic wings....AND tomorrow is the BIG turkey dinner at my grandmother's...the turkey is SO big she started the thawing process last night.. I had oats for breakfast, salad for lunch..I'm ready!
What a week:
Monday as cleaning out the fridge and see what I could make, I was on my own for dinner so this is what I found:
Tomato Paste
Homemade Salsa
Taco Meat
Pasta
So I cooked down some Tomato paste added some red peppers & mushrooms until soft, added in taco meat ans served over left over pasta with cheddar cheese. Was very good if I say so myself would make again.

Watched our grandkids at son and d-i-l`s house. She made macaroni a la viande (beef macaroni) for us. Oh and for dessert they brought back a box of tim`s donuts! WooooooooHooooooo!
Takeout tonight from Pizza 73 - bits of everything: all dressed pizza, crispy wings, carrots, curly fries, onion rings, df shrimp. Yum. Lots of leftovers.
L'il rant - in summer was the first time we ordered from there, because I had a gift card. I adored the shrimp - they were plump and juicy, so this time ordered the big pack - BUT they were overcooked and dry... so I was sad, uh... but still ate them.
Turkey and the trimmings tonight! WoooooooHooooooo!
For the gang ( not GF for me but oh well ) I bought a few packs of those fresh Ziggy pasta things from NF ( I hope $2.00 for a 250 g of beef tortellini and cheese spinach ones are a deal, they seemed like it ) It is a veggie soup with that pasta from page 29 from the WM Better Living Oct issue.
Meatloaf with ground pork, linguini with garlic sauce, corn.
instant ramen, went out for a big lunch earlier.
OMG!!!!!!!!!! We survived last night`s Thanksgiving dinner and 3 Birthday parties which were held together! Massive amount of kids, more than i was told but most left before dinner, only 7 were for dinner. Thank God! But the food was fantastic (DD forgot to stuff the turkey, lol), almost everything went except some turkey and some Belgian bread. Everyone was properly stuffed and of course we had to leave room for the 3 b-day cakes for dessert!
Tonight for dinner, well probably something light like salad or cereal!
Last night's dinner was insane, my step mom yeah wow it was insane we had:
Turkey
Stuffing
Gravy
Glazed Ham
Potatoes
Potato Dumplings
Butternut Squash
Red Cabbage
Sweet Potato
3 Bean Salad
Carrots
Peas
Dessert:
Pumpkin Pie
Apple Crisp
Pumpkin Pie Dip with Cookies
Needless to say we were all stuffed once dinner was done, no one even came into the kitchen to pick at food well we were cleaning up.
Tonight's dinner still a mystery.
My turkey is in the oven, my apple pie is in another oven. I made stuffing completely from scratch for the first time, we'll see how good it comes out. I made a stuffing bread in my bread machine (using this recipe: http://baking.food.com/recipe/stuffi...-machine-88258). It came out pretty tasty, we'll see how it comes out in the bird. :)
Happy Thanksgiving all!
We stayed home for Thanksgiving this year. All of our family is 5+hrs away.
Last nigh we had mashed potatoes (from my garden), raw carrots (from my garden), with a mushroom gravy sauce that also contained yellow onion and cut up chicken breasts.
Tonight's supper is shepherd's pie, which is why I made so much mashed potatoes last night. Dh likes shepherd's pie a lot more than I do, but I still thought it would be a good idea since I haven't made it in a long time.
Had a lovely weekend overall! Travelling today, walked in on another family turkey dinner..wow..yummy
