The soup was very good, hit the spot (although I forgot to buy corn for it). Not a lot of leftovers though, and I'm disappointed I hadn't gotten around to making my own black/red beans from dried in the crockpot, had to use canned.

I'm loosing weight by exercising, so I just eat salad tonight, so hungry now and will I fall in a faint in the gym?:bawling:
spent the last two weeks with the in-laws for US thanksgiving. Came back to canada and graved chinese food so we went for some tonight. Also have enough leftovers for 2 lunches.
Having some bbq chicken wraps tonight
No idea!
Split pea soup
Ham, salad, crash potatoes. Mmm, ham, I love ham.
Our 2yr old son shared a really bad cold with me. He got it from a younger child at daycare whose parents still haven't taken to the doctor after having a cough for 2 weeks. I currently have two different pots of hamburger soup simmering on the stove because dh doesn't really like tomato based soups. I also bought a bag of lemons and have been drinking hot lemon and honey throughout the day. Here's hoping LO sleeps through the night, he has been up 5 out of the last 6 nights.
1st pot: ground beef, onion, celery, carrot, pearl barley, seasonings
2nd pot: ground beef, onion, celery, carrot, quinoa, diced tomato, can of kernel corn (59c clearance at Sobeys today), seasonings
spaghetti w meat sauce
Mmmm, finally got to enjoy some of them ribs I did up. Amazing any were left, lol
I have a turkey breast in the slow cooker (p/u for $6.00) season ,drizzle with butter and cook on high setting for 2 hours and then low for the remaining 5-6+ hours (this will crisp the skin) (I also layer the bottom of the slow cooker with onion) will prob make a clubhouse with it later, and leftovers for lunch sandwiches for the next couple of days.
Not much that a doc can do for a cold in a kid that young anyhow. Soup is the way IMO! I'm a fan of warm honey and lemon drinks too, although I have to bribe my eight year old to drink it (not like it even tastes bad!). Fortunately since we left the daycare days behind, mine rarely gets sick.
Tonight we have DS's Christmas concert, so a hasty supper of leftover ham and salad and off we go!
LO went to the ER on Friday night. He has fluid in the bottom of his lungs, they are crackling, and his throat is really sore. The doctor gave him strong antibiotics and inhalers. He said that if LO isn't improving within 4 days then he wanted to hospitalize LO. This is more than just a cold. I will likely be going to the evening walk-in clinic tomorrow night because I am also coughing stuff up, etc. Yuck!
Angela, sure hope your son gets better quickly, that sounds serious for a little one.
Yesterday, I had a plan for a meatless supper - since it's the period before Christmas, we go meatless two days a week - Wed. and Fri. - instead of just Fri. (though we often do more, anyway). However, partway through the day, I realized it was Tuesday yesterday, so plans changed.
We had Olymel chicken chunks (gosh, they are good - expensive at regular grocery stores, but got these at Giant Tiger), packaged fettuccine alfredo to which I added a lot of sweetlet peas, and salad.
How did your turkey breast come out? I bought a couple boneless skinless ones for a good price awhile back, was quite excited to try them. I did one in the oven, and a week later did another in the crockpot. They were not overcooked, but in both cases they were rough and rubbery!
turtles :)
I cook these on a regular basis for sandwiches, etc but I always cook bone-in, with skin and they are moist and delicious, fall off the bone..the butter/margarine is the trick, on high for first 2 hours to crisp the skin (it can be removed after) and then high for the next 5-6 hrs depending on the size.
Were these the ones from Gateway? I found them to be rough and rubbery as well. We purchased turkey thighs at the same time and they were much better. Then again, they were on the bone.
Tonight I was thinking Mexican because we have some ground beef out, but we don't have any salsa.
Yes, Gateway! The price was great, the quality not so much. I'm almost certain I did not overcook them. I wondered if they were from an older bird? But a few weeks later I got turkey drumsticks - OMG, they were SO good, DH and DS were nuts for them. I went back the next day to get more and they were out.
A few years ago we purchased one of those huge turkey breasts (skin on, bone in) and it wasn't that great. We too felt like it had come from an older bird. Perhaps only the dark meat is good to purchase. We likely won't buy another turkey breast from them, if they continue to use that supplier.
So I made "nachos supreme" which is just a nice name for a one pot beef and rice dish.
Clueless, really, so I just put something together - diced potatoes, onions, carrots, and cauliflower slices mixed with frozen sweetlet peas, made a bit of a veggie broth to put over, along with garlic, s+p; broke up some frozen sole fillets and put on top, seasoning salt on them, dots of margarine and sprinkles of lemon juice.
(did it this way because there weren't enough fillets to eat separately as a protein...)
Will see how this works when I check it halfway through baking... to see if I have to add liquid or ?
homemade roast chicken breast with ramen
Not very hungry so I had a chelsea bun from AnnaMae`s. It was sooo good.
Just finished the second half of my Barrio Fiesta soup ( take out from a filipino place ) A delicious clear broth with very tender chicken ( watch out for dem small bones though! ) papaya and some greens similar to spinach. Mmmm. So later tonight will be the start of the cookoff, we are preparing a feast for about 14 guys at DH's work, they will be enjoying that on Friday. Have to make some of this ahead. There will be 7 noodle high lasagna, chicken Parmesan, Caesar salad, potato salad, deviled eggs, large smoked sausages, and carrot cake....for some reason my suggestion of some some form of steamed veggies or a raw veggie plate and dip fell on deaf ears, ha ha ( carnivores the whole lot of them )
Wow, WOB, that's a lot of work! I hear ya about the carnivores, though!
Well, my casserole thingee turned out really well - it's all gone! Husband didn't complain about the fish, nor about the veggies! (not that he's a complainer, quite the opposite - he eats whatever I make. He's just a meat and taters kinda man!)
