today is jigg's dinner at my grandmother's. This is a pic of a recent jiggs dinner meal she sent it. This is the largest dinner plate that she had and included is cabbage, carrot, turnip/rutabaga, turkey stuffing, peas pudding, turkey, salt beef, potato, 2 sweet puddings all slathered in turkey gravy. The taste is phenomenal. Did I eat it all? Absolutely!! Lol

It is currently -28 with the windchill. It warmed up by 15 during the day. We set a new record for temperature which had been set in 1910. No wonder we basically stayed home the entire weekend. Tomorrow it is supposed to start melting again. Weird weather.

...haven't had BBQ in soooo long..the big BBQ is put away as the high winds all the time doesn't allow for many bbq's....SO, will dig out the hibachi and see if it can BBQ a steak, not much wind today so it should work! :)
Son is coming over again to finish doing my computer fixing, so I'm making another of his fave meals (he was SO happy yesterday with both the borscht and the Shipwreck) - chicken stew and mashed potatoes. Making lots so he can take home lots.
On the weekend I picked up some Schneider's skinless, boneless frozen chicken breasts on extreme sale at IGA for $15.99 a box (that's over $19 off the regular price). So last night I made a stirfry. I only use one chicken breast for two people and make lots of veggies and rice. It's a great way to stretch out the most expensive part which is the meat.
I also stopped at Safeway for the deal on Stouffer's and Lean Cuisine (on for $2 each), and Ovenjoy bread for lunches. While there I found cheese buns for 1/2 price and will be using them tonight to have Jane's chicken burgers.

Well dh went out to pick up the Sobeys roast chicken dinner yesterday but had to change plans. The one roast chicken was burnt black and the rest wouldn't be ready for another hour. Dh drove across town to the CO-OP. He picked up a roast chicken, some macaroni salad, a package of big buns, a few bags of CO-OP brand chips, and an apple pie. He SCOPed the apple pie and taught another guy about it, who also picked one up for free.
I packed some roast chicken buns as part of today's lunch and again for tomorrow.
Pork back ribs, mixed salad, carrots, and cucumber slices.
BBQ Chicken wings, buttered pita and coleslaw.
Going to make some corn chowder for supper tonight. It's -35 with the windchill so it's definitely a good day for it.
Yesterday felt like a chili kind of day. So glad I had some in the freezer.
..have a pork roast in the oven, not sure what I'll have with it...maybe just to keep it simple, mashed potato, gravy, corn & stove top
