What's For Dinner?

I have been at my moms since last week and I cannot even begin to tell you the food we have been eating. She is spoiling us!!! Also helps my mom is an Italian chef for the past 33 years lol funny bc were not even Italian hahaha
SOme of my fav meals so far...

Of course the Turley dinner on Christmas
-Pork tenderloin stuffed with homemade stuffing and a light gravy on the side.
- roasted piggy Mmmmm fav part is the crispy skin...not healthy but who cares lol
- her homemade chicken soups
-homemade tortelinni (sp) stuffed with cheese in a rose sauce
- crepes with various delicious fillings...

I should have went on a diet before I came home hehe :)

tonight I will be making chicken saté's with peanut sauce

Tonight will be cabbage rolls and pyrogies with mountains of fried onions and bacon :)

Last night I made homemade pizza, ah - so good!
Tonight is the battle of the tourtieres - M&M vs. Schneiders (don't worry, I KNOW homemade ones are better!), along with leftover pasta, mixed veggies, and macaroni salad.

Me either! I made a baked pasta caserole the other day and there was too much and we've had it 2 days in a row. I don't mind but the family may mutiny on me.

Sauted veggies,veal,sweet potatoe fries,bed of white rice:-)

Results of frozen tourtiere test - baked both at same time, temp, etc. as directions were the same on each, though the M&M one was a little heavier. In a way, both won, as all three of us liked both. But the winner by just a tad was the M&M - lighter pastry, finer meat filling. Still, the Schneiders one has a flaky, crispy pastry which is yummy too, and I think I liked the filling better myself. I'd buy both again. I'd put the Schneider filling in the M&M pastry!
Ended up serving them with smashed potatoes, and a fried cabbage, onions, and carrot medley. Yummers!

For New Years Eve we are having Salade Olivier, Steak, Potatoes, vegs, Garlic toast and homebaked choc. Cake

it was turkey, home fries with carmelized onions :-)

tomorrow is a turkey break(thank god), next day hovever is turkey soup :(

then WOOOHOO no more turkey :razz:

chicken wraps

Last night I made cheesy penne pasta and baked ham for my husband. I had oven fries with gravy.
Tonight will be an eat-out-of-the-freezer night - on the snackie side of things. I know for sure we have spanikopita, some sorts of dips, piggies in blankets or maybe chicken wings, etc. Won't know for sure til we dig in the freezer!

We had appetizers last night and will be snacking and finishing them off today .....maybe soup for supper...

last night was cornish game hens potatoes rice and peas

tonight is ham and well i don't know going over to my parents for dinner

My parents always said that what you do on New Years day is what you will be doing for the rest of the year, so I am not cooking today. :lolsign:

We are having take out Chinese food instead.

i turned down a turkey dinner invitation...so now i'm thinking...kd

Ribs and left over "french" salad

just plain old tenderloin, garlic mashed, green beans, bacon with cheese melted
and pumpkin pie and cool whip. then walk the dogs.

Adam, nothing 'plain old...' about that meal, sounds great!!!
Tonight is pork souvlaki, homemade potato wedges, and zucchini.

Nacho's... My mom is coming over and that was her special request...

Tofurky Loaf with a pile of veggies and mashed potatoes. I'm excited. Cheesecake for dessert (Creme De Leche from Loblaws, I'm going to die of happiness)

We had Pumpkin Ravioli with brown butter and sage, garlic bread and a mixed green salad. It was very good.

MMMm, nice change in supper plans. Got a nice, cheap pork loin on sale at Sobey's today, so I conned, er.... "asked nicely" if my husband could make schnitzel, and he agreed! YAY!!!

oooo, schnitzel, I loooove schnitzel, haven't made it for awhile, too messy, but so worth it

GoJays, I can make it myself, and do -- but he slices it thinly, pounds it really thinly, and he just does it 'better', isn't in a hurry to fry it. He's got patience with it that I don't!

I hate to cook - really REALLY hate to cook - had some Little Caesars pizza and garlic bread kits in the freezer that I bought from someone that was fundraising - so I cooked them up for New Years dinner. Had no complaints. The other household members know better :tongue:
