Usually I get dry cottage cheese from Co-op.. Comes in a 750 ml carton (used to come in a bag). Noticed this time the cheese was really fine, so didn't have to smush it much, and it was yummy. I don't think they order many in, it was the last one, and it was totally fresh.
Safeway also carries it; Superstore's brand is fine, too.

    - awesome that you got ground pork for such an amazing price! Here, the cheapest I bought it lately was $4.39 kg, and I was happy to buy it at that!
No Co-op near me, but have seen it at Superstore and Safeway, but they seem to only carry it sometimes. But I have sucessfully frozen it.

There is a local grocery chain that often puts their about to expire meat on clearance, so always stop by when I'm in the area. I got another lb of ground pork in my freezer for $0.87 and 3lbs of pork buttons for $3.00.

Yep, looks like ground pork is going the way of chicken wings and thighs which used to be super cheap. LOL

Tonight I'll have some sort of leftover as I am off to cheer on the hapless Bombers.

Well, its second verse same as the first. Vegan burger and coleslaw for the second time this week. I know it's not healthy to repeat meals in the same week...but I got home from work so late and I was so starved that the damn dog was looking tasty...so I hastily scarfed the first thing I could find in the fridge...which happened to be that. Then I had a Chapman's super fudge ice milk lolly for dessert....mmmm....so good and tasted even better because it was free AND low fat. How can you say no to that???

i was supposed to BBQ some sausages tonight but just as i was getting ready to go start the bbq, it downpoured. so i sliced the sausages up and pan fried them with mushrooms, peppers, onions, garlic and mixed in some tomato sauce served over whole wheat spaghetti. i think it turned out better than just plain' ol bbq'd sausages.

Had fried potatoes, and for the first time I used Egg Creations, chive and cheese - scrambled them.
Not bad for 'fake' eggs, as my son said.
I'll stick to the real ones, but tried them because they were cheap with BOGO coupon.

The weather has cooled down significantly here in Toronto, so I decided to make chili!
It's loaded with various kinds of vegetables, kidney beans and chickpeas.
I beefed up the beef, but adding TVP (texturized vegetable protein) in it, 50/50.
The meaty flavour doesn't get compromised as I cook it with the beef!
Its healthy, low in fat and super inexpensive!
1 lb of beef became 2 pounds with the addition of 50¢ worth of TVP. :D
There's SO much left over! We ate it with homemade rolls.

Going over to my friend's house tonight for potluck with a Carribean/West Indian night. So...she will be making curry goat, home-made dumplings, and I will be brining curry chickpeas and banana bread. We'll be drinking sangria, and the men will stick to their "manly" vodka

I have a road race tomorrow so it's time to carb load - yay!
My two running buddies and I are going to order takeout from a small hole-in-the-wall restaurant and enjoy it. Was thinking about making a cake but that is probably too much for a 9am race.
