Perogies are basically dumplings with filling - most cultures of the world have something similar (asian dumplings, Italian tortellini, etc.).

Most commonly, the filling is potatoes and cheese - but there are many others which can be used as well.

You make a dough, cut in circles, put a bit of the filling on the centre, pinch closed, then boil them til tender. Usually served with sour cream and onions sauteed in butter, but also good with fried bacon bits, lol!
They are also good when fried after being boiled.

Tonight will be leftover soup - with sandwiches probably, and/or any leftovers in the fridge.
My son lauded my use of the slow cooker - that I was getting 'brave' using it more, lol! First time I made soup in it. It's interesting to see how items cook differently than cooking soup in a pot on the stove. For example, I diced potatoes quite small, and they weren't cooked til the very end - and the barley was fully expanded and soft. When I cook soup in a pot, the potatoes are cut larger and usually are falling apart when done, whilst the barley will be cooked but still a bit chewy.

NF had those disgusting ( I mean delicious ) Janes breaded Chicken strips on sale, DH bought a box for the " kids " ( young adults), I made sure there was unbuttered, no milk added mashed on the table and 2 types of gently steamed green veggies.
Figured it counted as a healthy dinner for them, I ate another Quesadilla, with DH's homemade soup.

Plus, now that I have been reading all labels for a while I get ill just going through the overuse of salt/sugar/fat and of course wheat/corn in all processed things. We will never be perfect here or organic, but I see now I had room to improve.
