Thread: What's For Dinner?

I usually make chicken fingers from scratch, but I wanted to try this brand...it's Maple Lodge Farms Zabiha Halal. The boys liked it but it was only a step above Jane's cheapest line (I prefer their premium all-chicken breast ones). I don't think I'll buy them again. Served with green beans and scalloped potatoes.
I didn't have any plans for dessert, but when I looked at the abundance of bananas in my fruit basket, I had to make banana splits - it was the only way to get the family to eat bananas willingly.

A scalloped potato casserole containing, wilted spinach, cubed ham, diced onions, fried mushrooms and 1/2 bag Kraffs Habnero cheese shredds. Again sounds gross, but hot filling and spicy

I might just give yours a try!
Oh, my rib sauce this last time has no recipe - I started by wanting to follow one recipe, but didn't have all the ingredients, so I just threw stuff in. Started with ketchup, lemon juice, garlic, italian seasonings, minced onion - then that wasn't enough volume, so I added 1/3 bottle of Bullseye, but that made it taste too harsh, so I added the orange pop, and for some odd reason, it was just right...
I had to thicken it a bit when done - and son said how awesome it was, I'd have to make it again, in his words 'exactly the same', lol! Well, that's not how I roll, sheesh! I just make stuff up as I go along.
Same thing about tonight's supper - son remembered last time I made a beef roast, I did it in the slowcooker and he loved it, so he asked if I could make it the same way. Oy, I have NO idea how I made it last time (yes, I remember less and less...) that he found it special/different....
So tonight is roast beef, lotsa gravy (best part about the meal, lol!); some sort of potatoes and veggies to go with.

Dinner tonight will be a celebration dinner out with my parents. They are taking us to a fancy-schmancy steakhouse in honour of my new title that my parents cannot stop calling "our doctor daughter". I can't wait... I am going to eat minimally today leading up so I can fully enjoy and gorge myself on the dinner

Alicia, that's awesome; enjoy! I know how proud my parents were when I got each of my bachelors', even! My dad had two degrees, and though I was the fifth kid, I was the first to get a degree, let alone two.

Tonight I made noodles with thai stir fry veggies and a can of green curry over it all. I have enough for at least 4 more meals...6 months later and I still can't figure out how to cook for one LOL!
