what was it made with?? gold flakes? Did it comes as a platter combo with other things on the side of the plate....like say , oh I don't know maybe a steak??! lol!!
Is it overpriced because they are the only place around for miles? Is that the norm for small oil boom towns?

We are having a BBQ, DH will do the steaks, potato, broccoli and I'll scoop spoonfulls of macaroni salad onto the plates. Mmmmm. Maybe a teensy glass of Yellow Label Shiraz?? we'll see.

This town attracted a very very high end chef from Vancouver and this was the cheapest thing on the menu. VERY high end dining in the middle of no where. Weird! Packed too with guy making $500 - $1000 a day in the oil patch.

I think DH is doing a pasta meal for tonight, GF pasta for some, and regular for the rest. He bought a huge $10.00 bag of NN frozen meatballs, I told him they are full of gluten, oh well, at least he is making the meal, beggars can't be choosers.

    TACOS!
Both an Old El Paso Taco kit, free hamburger from awhile back (parents), grated some cheese and added a can of refried beans to stretch it that much further. So yummy!

I am making a big ol pot of zumma borscht. Have been simmering the pork neckbone since this morning and gathered all the garden veggies. In the process of washing and chopping everything then gonna get those in the pot too.

I am so excited. LOL. My fave part of summer, fresh fresh fresh.

    My borscht at the moment.

Serving it with a nice big dollop of sour supreme and a loaf of walnut cranberry bread.
