so you add to someone's reputation if u like what they say in a post good suggestion or a word of encouragement?
and i just click on the thing that looks like a crumpled piece of paper beside the light to let me know if they on online? and don't even get me started on the whole candy thing still don't quit understand that one either lol so if someone we're ro explain that to me i could click on that persons reputation button?

As for the candy, thats a tall order. The basics : you earn candy every time you post, start a thread or upload pictures. You can hold on to your candy, or buy some gifts for fellow sc'ers.;) Those are the icons you see close to the balance (where you clicked for rep or rumpled piece of paper)
