On this chilly January day, think of the birds serenading in May,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
& on this day when the cutting chill nips,
Think thoughts of splendor or of a celestial eclipse,
On this day as you can’t help but feel rather glacial,
Think thoughts of warmth & make them palatial,
Don’t watch the mercury dipping lower & even lower still,
Cause you don’t need a reminder that we’re all feeling the chill,
& furthermore on this day that puts the bitter in cold,
Don’t let it deter you & let the blahs take ahold,
& as others have advised wisely as they know firsthand,
If you don’t dress for the weather, you will not withstand,
For the cold is cutting & at times unforgiving,
& yes, that’s a part of Canadian living,
On this January day, the month is just past halfway thru,
& there is still much more wintering for all us to pursue,
So, on this day that’s not radiating one ounce of heat,
Do not sit your butt down on a block of concrete,
& on this day as winter is beginning to be a bit of a bummer,
Just remember that soon we’ll be basking in summer.
