Got this error message this morning for a couple of minutes and the page would not refresh




Database error

The database has encountered a problem.Please try the following:

I get error 408 pretty often.

I kept getting Database Error messages for a couple minutes when I was trying to log in, and just now I got 408 messages twice when I was trying to post in a thread

got the 403 error quite a few times today while trying to read few posts...also got the same error once while trying to reply to a post...

I keep getting those 503 messages too!! I'm so frustrated! There are so many posts I want to read but can't! Grrr! Glad It's not just me though. Wasn't sure if I had a virus or something.

Yesterday I corrected what appeared to be an issue with one of the database tables. It had a corrupt index which was causing cleanup of pre-parsed posts to take longer than expected. Having that fixed will definitely help some, mainly with the database errors and timeout errors.

As for the 503 errors, this is a very intermittent issue and typically only affects one user at a time. I have read other reports of similar setups where people have said logging out and logging back in (or clearing the cookie for the affected site) helps to restore access.

It appears to be a combination of problems between LiteSpeed and the way it spawns PHP processes. I have made some changes this morning and will see if it reduces the frequency of 503 errors. I'll be monitoring the logs throughout the day today to see if the occurrence pattern has changed.

This morning, SO frustrating! I was all into spending some quality time on here - instead after a well thought-out answer to a question, it got zapped into oblivion.... I really don't want to have to get into copying a reply first before trying to post it, that would be so inconvenient.

As of yet there's still no solution to the 503 errors. Since this morning I've seen 7 more 503 errors (in the grand scheme of things this is very little, but still.. 0 is what I'm aiming for).

Still working on sorting it out .. so if you have that problem, sorry for now.

Just this morning eh? Well that rules out me, because this is the first I've been on all day. (At first I had thought it had to do with my moving some threads around, coincidental?)
