Lockerz is open to all US members now.
I'm in the UK, but i was able to access the store and look at what they've got, and heres what i can see straight off.
There are clearly different levels of discounts - ptz ratio, as i was able to get a 60% discount on a rucksack(worth $85), when i couldn't even get a 56% discount on a game(worth $39.99).
I was able to get a 66% discount on New Moon(which used 1578 ptz), so instead of paying $32.99, it would cost just $11.22.(But you only earn 165 ptz for purchase).
The same dvd is currently $17.49 on amazon.com. So if you use S&W sites then the better choice is use amazon.com.
The discount increaser works on a fractured rate, in that its never the same amount per point. On the above item, the first 8% levels were;
1% discount - 4
2% discount - 10
3% discount - 18
4% discount - 26
5% discount - 37
6% discount - 48
7% discount - 59
8% discount - 72
For an Xbox 360 elite, it would cost you $299. With 32,829 ptz you can get it for $0+P&P. It also gets you 1495 ptz.
A 10% Discount will cost you 1433 ptz($269.10). So if you were already going to buy one, it might seem like a good deal, but when you factor in that on amazon.com they have the same console at the same price, but it comes with Halo ODST & Forza Motorsport 3. So at this point you need to decide which is better.
So my breakdown is as follows;
For the cost of $269.10(+P&P/Shipping) I could get the console and have 1495 ptz back in my account.
With those ptz(and any remaining) i would have enough to get a 50% discount on Halo 3: ODST game(costing me $17.60). With those 200ptz i could then get a 10% discount on a game worth $59.99(Forza isn't there so price equivalent chosen instead), and that game would cost me just($53.99).
However on the above two games, i would again have to pay P&P/Shipping(Equating to maybe $20)
For the price of $299 at amazon.com, i could get the console+2 games(combined RRP of $100).
So @Lockerz the total cost is around $360(inc. P&P/Shipping), at amazon.com its just $299.99(+ P&P/Shipping). So it might be $10 cheaper at amazon.
However, this is where they trick you. The more points you use, the less you earn back, so they penalize you for having more ptz. Which i only realized when i went to my basket. I said that at full discount you would get 1495 ptz, you actually get 0 ptz, and 10% discount gets you 1345 ptz.
So that whole piece of information above on the Xbox 360 Elite is wrong, and in fact it will likely cost you an extra $15 - $20 at Lockerz, and thats not including if you use amazon.com GC's to get an even better discount on amazon.com.
So in summary, don't buy any electronics from Lockerz without checking around and doing some in-depth calculations. Especially if you can get some free gear(such as free games) by buying elsewhere, even if you don't like the games you can always sell them on for pretty decent amounts, making you an even better saving.
The best discounts on things you actually might want to buy right now will likely be on games, as if you have over 1500 ptz, then you can get 50% discounts on most/if not all of them.
I can't wait to see what sort of discounts they'll apply to apple products, 1% - 1100 ptz :tongue:
