Oh my god such adorable pictures!!!!

I also could not work at an animal shelter, unless it was just walking dogs or something like that. I used to watch the shows the Humane Society would put on and I had to stop because every time I would get so mad and so upset, I'd just sit there and bawl and bawl. It sickens me that people would so abuse such helpless defenseless creatures that just want to be loved.

Our dog Chance was actually a rescued dog. We got her from the people that had rescued her. I don't know exactly what happened, we were just told that she was being abused and so she was taken away. I know she is very sensitive to being scolded and for a long time if you scolded her for doing something bad (especially if DH scolded her) she would yip as if you had hit her and go hide somewhere for a while.

My son has one of those corn poppers and he thinks it is funny to chase the dog around with it but I always tell him not to because you can see it genuinely scares her. Poor thing.

My Dad's cat is also a rescued cat,so to speak. When I was a teenager, one of my sister's friends came to stay with us for a short time. She was previously a drug user and such, and her and especially her boyfriend would abuse her cat. Well she got clean and whatever and brought the cat with her. She couldn't understand why he didn't want anything to do with her (gee I wonder) and he was *very* aggressive. I mean like he would just attack you viciously and leave you bleeding with bite marks in your leg. But we were very kind and patient with him and over time he became nicer. Then she moved out on her own, took the cat with her, within a week he was acting aggressive again. She decided he was too much bother and was going to send him off to a shelter, but my Dad stepped in and said no I will take him but he stays with me forever now. So she agreed and my Dad has had him ever since (like 7 or 8 years now). You can tell he still has emotional scars from being abused and certain things still bother him, I don't think that will ever go away. But he is 100% better then he was when he first came, he loves my Dad so much, I hope my Dad does not pass before the cat does because I don't think the cat could handle it honestly.

My cat is a rescue, he was about 5 months old when I got him.
He will be 11 years old in May sometime, I don't know his exact birthday.
