I tried that last week one day when she was sick and it didn't work. Unfortunately she has heard me tell Kevin for all these years that unless you are bleeding from the eyes you have to go to school. So that kind of backfired on me. LOL It used to be when kids were sick they would stay home but these days parents all work and they send their kids to school no matter what. The school hates it too but what can you do? Parents would rather work and frankly some parents MUST work and cannot stay home with a sick kid.

Yeah but just wait until he is in school. There are so many PED days and holidays that many parents can never take family vacations. Between 2 weeks at xmas, 1 week in march and 15 or so other PED days(don't forget there's no daycare at the school for most of those holidays) parents have to use up all their vacation time to look after the kids and in the summer camp is fine but it's only a month so there's another 3 weeks you have to fill with vacation time. Just another reason to "love" the school systems here or should I say the almighty teachers union.

Happens at Larry's work a lot. I think they had to put a stop to it. He could tell you.
There have been 2 strikes and 1 work slow down since Kevin has been in school. Last year the university strike was so long that they extended the school year and it screwed up all the summer jobs for kids. Many seasonal places rely on all those students.

My job allows me to trade shifts and work overtime to rack up vaca so by the time he's in school I'll be able to manage 8-10 wks vaca. Another reason I stay at my job even if it's not my dream job. Mind you, I don't have the seniority to be able to take 2 wks at xmas and I think March break might still be tough for me by then.
Something to think about I suppose...
You get the calendar of ped days ahead of time though right?

Well, I'm off to get ready to go to the dentist for another tooth extraction. He's going to have to use a visegrip to wedge my mouth open, it hurts to keep it open even to bite a sandwich, since my last pulled tooth a week ago.
I don't wanna go....
Have a great day, everyone!
