Police say a 75-year-old man died after accidentally triggering a booby trap he had set up in his home on Quebec City's south shore.
Jos Lawrence Potvin had rigged a rifle to a string that ran across the floor of his bedroom, in a bid to protect his Lévis home from thieves.
"It is a kind of booby trap we see [used] by hunters," explained Lévis police Sgt. Alain Gelly.
"Hunters will attach a cord or rope to a rifle, to a shotgun, and that rope would be pulled out by an animal that crosses over it."
It appears Potvin was preparing a meal when he mistakenly set off his trap.
Police discovered his body on Thursday morning, and initially thought it was a suspicious death.
They have ruled out suicide in the case.

Someone who was coming back from voting, probably took him. I saw him when I was coming back from voting, and hadnt seen him when I went to vote.

Its a real scummy thing to just leave a little puppy out there like that,

We had the Tuscan chicken one - it was good. But not a full meal deal - more like snackie pizza because it's so thin with not many toppings.

-- and I sure hope that some good people picked up that abandoned puppy!
