Natalka, sorry about your son and his car. As someone who has been hit a lot ( when MB autopac wrote off my car it had been in 8 accidents in 3-1/2 year and none were my fault) in my car, things happen that's why they are called accidents ( I know insurances companys claim there are no accidents) but no ment for this to happen. Hopefully your son learned something from this where it's that he needs more time to turn or how to act in accident. Since everyone walked away as Andit said a piece of metal can be replaced.

I'm happy to hear he is safe.

Hey, thanks everyone! My son just was home this last hour after dealing with the insurance and all - and I finally got the full version of what exactly happened and how he was feeling - both then and now. He said the first thing he was worried about was my reaction (not his dad's, not the cops, not the car) - so, wow...
He truly knows what he did wrong - that he continued through the turn when he shouldn't have, because his tires just spun on the ice, and he's very contrite. He said he probably made a mistake admitting it right away to the police officer.... lol!
And he's just taken his old Mustang to go see his gf, so he def doesn't mind the idea of driving again - but as he left, he just said "Mom, I'll go slowly, I'll be really careful."
In general, this was a day where I think he realized what adulthood is all about. He couldn't believe how 'nice' everyone was - from the others involved at the scene of the accident, to bystanders who asked if he was hurt; the police who handled everything professionally (he thought he would get heck from them!); then at SGI (Sask. Government Insurance) his adjuster was kind and told him about things to watch for in case he's feeling sore, about getting massages, physio or meds if he needs it, etc. - in addition to handling the car stuff itself... then to everyone at work (he was close to work so someone had seen the accident and told his boss at work), his supervisor called him to make sure he was okay and could take the day off - PLUS my husband works at the same company and they let him have all the time with Milan that he needed. So, Milan just told me, Wow, people do care! Yeah, I told him, they really do. You can learn good things out of a bad situation.
The woman at SGI also let him know that he could go rescue his after-market stereo out of the car before it was assessed this afternoon, and put in the one that came with the car - so he went and did that, and was happy with it. Unfortunately he had to leave the pricey speakers, because he didn't have the originals.
Even though I thought he totally knew what having car insurance was all about, I guess he totally didn't. He was a bit blown away to find out that his insurance covers his car, as well as the other two vehicles (not very damaged at all - it totally amazed the Saturn owner who hit him, who barely had a scratch on it, yet Milan's car was totally caved in, all glass broken, etc.; and a truck, with some bumper damage)...
So if you have kids who drive, make sure they know about insurance, and how it works where you are!

just got back from droping off a huge bag of my clothing that is to big for me at the Adele house thrift store. While I was there I found a lovely red London Fog Car length pure virgin wool coat that fits like glove. and it was $5.00. It look hardly used. Loved it.

That's awesome about the coat, and London Fog! Red! Wool! $5!!! WTG!
