I was guilty of breaking up the name of a site into two words to get it to work, due to not being aware at the time that it wasn't allowed. I thought as long as I didn't actually post a link to the site, it was okay. I am on here every day and didn't see this thread prior to my last post a couple days ago.
So bumping this thread is a good reminder for all of us, and a heads up for all the newbies we have joining us on SC.

SC also does not appreciate putting a site into the tinyurl, or breaking a word up.
If you write a word or site and it posts blank, that is how you know it's blacklisted. No different than when you write a cuss word and it comes up blank.
For referral links, only 2 referral programs per member's signature please. Choose the program you like that we allow, but it's only going to be two. And no commercial banners for those sites either please. Anything beyond this will be at the mod's discretion to PM you for removal.

I am noticing though words are disappearing from my posts that may coincidentally be part of the name of a competing site, but I am not using it in that context at all.
It just happened to me now, someone replied to my post and I didn't understand what she was saying because one of the words got chopped and I had to figure it out. Then when I replied to her post, I had to go back and edit my post because the same thing happened to me, obviously I used the same word she did.
It's just hard sometimes to keep trying to think of synonyms for words when the word you originally used conveyed the idea more closely to how you meant it to come across.
I wish there was a way for the system to only eat the word if it is used in conjunction with another word, thereby obviously referring to the competing site.

Thanks for the heads up, which type of sites are NOT allowed? If we post something wrong, would you just let us know?

LOL re the cuss words - I had a devil of a time on a charitable site with a message board trying to figure out what I'd done wrong once - it turned out that I had two words next to each other, one ending in "SH" and the other starting with "*T". Of course that wasn't at all what I was trying to say - and it was obvious from the context - but it confused me at the time.
Then again, I am not always the sharpest implement in the drawer.

Caring is right. Affiliate links, you may all be more familiar with the term as referral links, Swagbucks, Lockerz, etc...
