Hi Everyone! I’m thrilled so many of us are interested in a get-together (GT)! When I started the thread to see if anyone was interested, I told myself I would be happy if just 1 or 2 people said yes. Now, at last count, we are 17! Ok... drum roll please! Re: Where: The first GT will be downtown. This is to accommodate those who rely on public transport (including me, who's organizing this first GT ). I realize there is the expense of gas and probably parking for those coming from off-island, so if people want to and can carpool – maybe split costs – that would be great. I hope the motivation of meeting fellow SCers is enough for you to make the trip into town Down the road, people may prefer to split up in smaller groups to meet ‘closer to home.’ We can discuss this at the GT. The exact location will be announced after I have a true estimate of how many will be coming. I have a place in mind but it will depend on the size of our group. (part 2 below)
Re: When After counting the votes, Saturday afternoon wins. I know some of you indicated this time slot wouldn’t work for you. Please remember that we're only discussing the first GT. Perhaps you can manage this one time. Future GTs can be on a different day, at a different time. I’m suggesting 2 possible dates in May. Please indicate your preference by voting for one of the following: a) Saturday, May 15 b) Saturday, May 22 (long weekend/Victoria Day weekend -wasn’t sure if this would make it easier for some of you) c) either - I have no preference ETA: I was thinking around 2 - 4/4:30 p.m. but it can be a bit earlier or later. One other thing... I got a PM from someone who would like to come but is concerned that her English is not good enough. Would those of you who are bilingual and can help her out if necessary identify yourselves? My own French is comme ci, comme ça Please expect that the meeting will primarily be in English, but individuals should feel free to speak to the group in either English or French, whichever you are more comfortable with. i would prefer the 15th. Bus will be on Saturday schedule but with lots of time to get to the place it should be ok. My only concern is me knowing how to get to the location i speak both french and English, i try to speak french when i can but i warn you all now i sound really bad LOL
May 15th would be ok for me but depends on where downtown. I drive but don't like driving in town
Unfortunately, I will be out of town both weekends But if my plans were to change, it would probably be for the May 15th date Thanks so much for pulling this all together - I am hopeful I will be able to make the next get together!
I will most likely be out of town victoria day weekend so would prefer the 15th as well. Any time is fine.
Hi guys! I'm new here at SC and I found your Montrealer's group. Great! If the date is good for me I will do my best to come and see you... I'm very off-island but I think your are the nearest group in sc!!! I'm OK to speak in english but, you will see the sound could be weird sometime!!! But I'm not afraid to come because my english is not perfect (if you could deal with that ) I'm sure you could see my imperfect english just when I wrote my message! Évidemment le français est ma langue maternelle et je suis beaucoup plus à l'aise avec celle-ci, mais je me débrouille pas si mal avec l'anglais!
