  1. It was great! Can't blv it's over ...Have been away from SC for a while, many things going on and just cldn't keep up with all the hype...but now I am ready to put myself back on track...Can't wait!!
  2. Hope Ramadan went well for you and that you had a great celebration today
  3. I'm glad I'm not doing it in this heat!!! My DH comes back tomorrow from Mali. I'm sure he was quite happy to be able to do it for a short time back home since it's been ten years. It's just not the same here + the days are veerryy long in Manitoba.
  4. Well Happy Ramadhan to u! Can't blv 2 days passed already...
  5. Hi! Are you gearing up for Ramadan? I heard it starts on August 1. My DH is out of the country and will be back after it starts so I'll have to stock up on stuff for him.
  6. I realized that afterwards. LOL
  7. good thing I visited your profile or else I wouldn't have known you replied..(you replied on your own wall..haha)...always an experience I say, keeps life interesting eh
  8. OMG..I have officially lost my mind...LOL..I celebrated it and didn't even think it was the same day Nov 16! hahah...wow, that's cool...we usually sacrifice the meat back in my home country and then my relatives there distribute it on our behalf...Don't have much family here to distribute meat too ..however, I do think one aspect that's good about sacrificing here is you get FRESH MEAT...yum! Do you do the whole cleaning and all that or does he bring it all chopped from the farm?
  9. I googled it myself - Aid El Adha or Aid El Kebir. It has to do with the sacrifice of a lamb to commemorate Abraham sacrificing his son Ismael...? That's what I understand of it....
All I know is that my DH never plans ahead for it (duh!) and then goes out to a farm to slaughter a sheep, brings the meat home, leaves it in the basement and puts in the freezer. Don't like the part where it hangs out in my basement so much...too smelly. LOL
  10. Oh, no I didn't. Tabaski...hmm, no idea? Need to google now..lol...Although, Leg of Lamb SOUNDS YUMMY!
  11. Did you celebrate the feast on Nov 16? I'm not sure what the name is but my DH calls it Tabaski. He made a leg of lamb...slow roasted in the oven...so delicious
  12. Have a great week!
  13. My DH did celebrate Eid one week late with his community. It sure felt long this year (not that I fast...) - he's hoping to do Ramadan back home in West Africa next year. Summer days are too long in Manitoba. LOL
  14. thanku for the wishes! Did he celebrate late or is it a different eid?
