I thought you were kidding because you've been a member for so long now. Okay, I won't pretend to know it all, but I'll try. When you see a post you like, you click on the reputation button and it adds points to the original poster.
Hopefully this inspires others to do the same for you. Your reputation is displayed as bars, stars and hearts of varying colours. I think the maple leaves are involved in this too, but I'm not sure - that might be post related. If you click on one of your own posts, it will show you your points. You can't keep repping the same person - you have to rep several people (I don't know how many) before it lets you rep your favourites again.
