So...I'm probably going to sound stupid for asking this, but I'm thinking you put the food in and then close the open end of the cereal bag, right? Or can you leave the end open?

What is this leftover bacon you are speaking of? No such thing in our house either. Once that package is open the whole thing gets cooked, then devoured!
gameprogirl I laughed at the " poor bacon" comment.
I do think the bags can be an excellent method of storage for any number of things, but I feel concerned about that claim by lekate, she usually knows her stuff though, I will try to see about that.
Thanks for that tip Lynn!!

This is interesting! I always buy the "green bags" from the dollar store. They are amazing for keeping veggies fresh for weeks. It is really a money saver. I will have to try the cereal bags and see if I have the same results with them

To store heads of lettuce you need to bang the core on the counter and remove it and the lteeuce will stay fresher a bit longer.
I also cut the tops off my milk bags, rince them out, shake out as much water as I can and then toss them in my freezer. It will freeze the rest of the water and it will then shake out when I got to use the bag for store something in the fridge or freezer. The bags are great in the freezer because they are so strong. They beat the ziplock or other bags by a mile. You can also dry them out and store them in a drawer but I find this way faster and easier (yes I am lazy)
