Anyone here from Vancouver BC? I can NEVER find tear pad coupons in any of the stores out here, except the Coupon Zone ones at Superstore which aren't that great...
If you're from Vancouver, when/where do you go to find tear pad coupons? This thread is currently associated with: Real Canadian Superstore RCSS

When I was little I remember collecting coupon tear pads like candy down the aisles! Now they are rare and you really need to be paying attention

I found a few upstairs in IGA (Burrard St) yesterday -- lots of Wasa crispbread tear pads throughout store, also VH Steamers, and Golden Dragon. Nothing too exciting. Some of them were on the very bottom shelf, so look closely ;-) Safeway never seems to have them. Sometimes find them at Shoppers Drug Mart (mostly in medicine aisles).
Tear pads seem to be a store policy thing -- one store in a chain might have them on shelves while another store in the same chain has none.

Great idea for a thread... I've been long wondering the same thing! And trying to find them too! So, can someone more experienced confirm that most of the in store coupons (like those scanned in the scanned coupons thread) are just found in the aisles?
I always assumed that there was some area in the store (like SS has) with all the coupons that I was totally missing...
Thanks!!!!!

A couple people PM'd me for more info on Golden Dragon that I mentioned above. To be honest, it's not a brand I'm familiar with but it offers a line of asian products. The coupon notes 'no expiry' and includes a barcode on the back, along with french text.
I've uploaded it to my flickr account for viewing:

I find most of my coupons at Safeway, Pricesmart and SDM. I make sure to get them when they first come out.
Feb is my birthday month!

Here's a little inside info...
Things are looking up for BC couponers!
Beginning around the end of March, you will be seeing more coupons in Vancouver (Surrey, Abbotsford), Nanaimo, Saanich and Campbell River.
I understand they will be installed at 25 stores which are included under the Sobeys banner (IGA).

When I start to use and collect coupon, I try different stores at different day in the week. Some store store always have coupon, some have coupon only in the week-end (thursday to sunday) because the pad are empty after, some store never have coupon or rarely.
You need to look at each aisle, close to the product.
Also in the week-end, you could see rep with sample to taste. Those reps often have coupon for the product they promote.
Each area is different, but some chain or store appear to be better than other with coupon tearpad. The best thing is to go in your area for 5-9 differents store to found the best one and stick on those store! Usually this is better to be in an area with a certain amount of population. Smartsource rep have less km to drive to fill the tearpad then in the middle of no where, so the work is more efficient. This is why a go once a week in a bigger city then my middle of the wood for coupon hunting!

Superstore rarely has coupons available.
Generally IGA Marketplace, Safeway or Save-On Foods have the most available.

Save-On-Foods, Shoppers Drug Mart and Safeway are by far the best places to find tear pads in Vancouver. Superstore, LD, and Walmart not-so-much. In general, it is getting harder to find tear pads that have coupons stuck to them! I think people are taking large quantities of coupons from them. I was at Save-on yesterday and all the tear pads were bare...:-(

Well consider these little facts:
1.) People are selling coupons on EBay Canada
2.) People are trading them for stamps and other goodies via Mail Trains
3.) There are Coupon Groups trading
4.) There are thousands of Couponers who are also closet couponers and are not members of any forums
5.) There are people taking the HV ones so they can stock up on their own needs
6.) The TV shows and News have brought couponing to light in the last year or so which has seen a dramatic increase in coupon usage.
7.) The Coupon Facebook Pages that have suddenly sprung up seem to have a teeming amount tearpad coupons to give away with raffles and draws.
If you had any doubts about how many couponers there are, just take a count of the persons registered on SC alone..about 40,000+ now. Not to mention the other forums that are separate from SC. Other good examples would be too watch Facebook on places like Zellers or even watch when a company gives away a Freebie on Facebook. Suddenly there are 100,000 new fans in a few days. All for one freebie.
So yeah, coupon pads definitely do not last long now especially ones like Sunlight Laundry detergent. (just one example).Last edited by truckerofbc; Wed, Jan 11th, 2012 at 06:50 PM.
