Did everyone get the coupon insert for the brandsaver and order the coupons at brandsaver.ca too?

    Anyone have a shopping adventures?

    Here's mine:

Went for brunch at my favourite organic bakery and while I was there the community radio station was selling memberships. I don't buy a membership usually -- feel supportive of them but not actively engaged.

Anyway the volunteer came over and said did I want a membership and I was saying no probably not when she explained that the membership card had various businesses that offered 10% off including my favourite bakery -- hmmm and gardening store. Pretty easy to support a community group AND save money.

A little while later I signed up, paid my $25 membership and entered the draw they were having. The odds were great for the draw LOL - maybe 10 or 15 names.

Guess who won? Me. LOL and the prizes were a $25 gift card to the bakery AND a peacock blue cotton t-shirt with the radio station logo. My favourite color is ... peacock blue.

I don't get the P&G insert to my house but when I was out shopping on Sat. I decided to check the paper to see if it was in there (because everyone was talking about it). Yeah! The paper had it. I promptly traded them right away for some coupons I really want. Nothing in the insert really appealed to me and I can't stack so it's not that exciting.

    Here's my latest shopping adventure
I went to RCSS for the tresmme shampoo they had advertised at $3.99 and use my $1 coupon for a good deal on shampoo. When I got there I found $1 tresemme coupon zone and $3wub2 aveeno coupon zone. So I ended up with 2 shampoo for $1.99each and 4 aveeno for $1.84 each(also used manufacturer $3wub2).
The next day I went to a different RCSS to p/u more shampoo and I got it for 38cents! I went through the self checks, input my coupons and then the cashier input them again. I waited a minute to let her catch her mistake but she was talking to another customer at the time, so I left. I was going to go back and get more shampoo but I felt bad about her mistake so I only got the one. However, this has happened to me before with using another coupon at RCSS when they input the coupon after I I did already.

someone else better post soon 'cause it looks like I'm hijacking the thread!LOL!

I have a tip for the next train passengers; make sure you have a manila envelope(or another study one) on hand, 5x7 size should be good size. I have to go buy one in the am. Just a tip as I never even thought about how many coupons might be on a train.

Also 8.5 x 11 envelopes work well ... once you're over the 30 g or 50 g, no savings really on the smaller size and you can wrap the coupons so it's thin enough to slide through the slot they use to measure envelopes with.

well, having a scale is great if you can read it properly! I'm blaming my cold for thinking I could mail off a 8x10 envie for $1.40. Didn't think that one through.
Anyways, train is off to clippy. took 5 stamps to mail.
@ clippy, I apologize in advance for the 'interesting' packing. I tried to use Giving-Small's advice but kinda screwed it up

Usually bulletin boards have some sort of system to show reputation for either content and members.

Smart Canucks has a couple of things:

    1. Thumbs up - which helps "promote" the best threads. On your profile you will see the total number of thumbs up you have over the lifetime on the board
    2. Reps help show a person who is valued by the forum community. In the Smart Canucks case reps are only loosely related to reputation.

How to get Reps and why it's a weak indicator of your reputation.

People who make good posts get reps.

People who have lots of friends usually get reps.

And people who hang out on the "I want a rep" thread get reps too.

On Smart Canucks reps are used just for fun. It's a quick and easy way to leave someone a short comment and/or say thanks for a post.

Once you accumulate a lot of reps you'll start having little stars and candies show up under name and little graphic/avatar.

How Using a Rep Helps the Smart Canuck community

Are you on some threads were someone posts a free code or idea and 10 people say thanks. It's nice they say thanks. In fact it's great if one person says it publicly so it's acknowledged.

The trouble starts when for a day or two people keep posting thanks. Why? Each time someone posts, the thread rises to the top and looks like it has "new" useful info information like a new code. Instead you open the thread and find it's just people saying thanks. And you do this many times before there is new information to use. Kinda a waste of everyone's time.

So if you collect pampers gifts to go points and read that thread and someone posts are "free code", you can give them a rep (nicest option so that if the thread looks new to readers ONLY WHEN there really is new content.) and the person who posts knows it's appreciated.

    How to Give a Rep

The diagram shows where to click to leave a rep on a post:

    Two options for repping:

    1. Just click and say okay - it shows up as a "thanks" and is linked to the exact post that you clicked the scales on.

    2. Click and type in a comment.

It's about 50/50 what people do.

Another time people leave a rep is when they ask for info or help and then someone answers ( ) -- it's a way to say "thanks for the answer".

    Your Supply of Rep

Each day you have about 20 to 30 reps available to hand out. It starts over each day.

Can you give all your reps to a friend or to someone like me?

No. If you give someone a rep, say crazycoupongirl, and then no one else, when you try to leave her a second rep, it'll tell you to spread the rep around.

This was probably built in to the software to prevent "gaming" the system -- giving one person all 20 reps each day for a month to bump them up. "Gaming" the system doesn't really matter on SC - hence the thread for give me rep. But I suspect this limit was part of the original bulletin board software.

    Your Activity

Find a few good posts today and leave a rep for the writers. Make someone's day.
