Hi everyone! I work from home in Winnipeg, Manitoba for a company based out of Victoria.

My employer has given me a project to look into Sick Leave policies of various companies within BC. I am having no luck whatsoever with Google except for the University of BC which I found out allows 8.75 hours per month after 66days worked as long as the employee has worked a minimum of 11days.

I am reaching out to my fellow SmartCanucks, and inquiring if any of you would be willing to share your work's Sick Leave policies with me. Would appreciate you being as specific as possible, and if at all possible providing a website with public documentation of your policy if that even exists?

I'm aware that this is a strange request, but hope some of you might be willing to share. I'm also aware that BC does not require employers any paid Sick Leave, though in Manitoba employers are required to give three unpaid sick days, and many even give up to five.

Hi flowerdangel... I'm not an expert in this area....but Employment Standards is the legislation that includes illness or sick leave requirements. I believe you are correct that there is no requirements for paid sick leave.

You may wish to check out the Labour Relations Board website. They list Collective Agreements currently in place in BC unionized organizations. Sick or illness leave is often included in CAs. I don't have any leads for you for non-unionized employers.

    Good luck with your research!
