    Hi Everyone,

I was thinking of getting my mom her very first cellphone. She doesn't think she needs one but I think she could benefit from having one; just in case something happens. I want a non-contract plan just in case she makes a BIG deal about this phone and ends up giving it back to me. I was looking into Public mobile's $15 unlimited talk plan (since she refuses to learn how to text). Is texting a big deal? I'm debating whether I should get her the unlimited talk + text. Anyways, I've heard some great stories about Public mobile but I've heard more bad reviews than good. I'd love to hear the input of my fellow SCs Thank you very much!

I am with public mobile and have not had any issues whatsoever. if she lives within the coverage area ten i would say go for it. its cheap, it works, and the bills never change. there are no overages ever. i love it.

Thank you very much! I feel more comfortable going with Public Mobile now. I know she's within the coverage zones and she does not venture far from home so I think it'll work out. Since there are no contracts, I feel even more inclined to go with Public.

Sound great! The only thing I'm not liking about Public Mobile is that I have to buy a phone from them. I don't really like any of them. I've heard there are a lot of malfunctions in their phones :/ apparently it's not the network; it's the phone. Perhaps it's just rumours.

Try Wind Mobile if you are in their calling area.

With their pre-paid account, you can pay $40 every 6 months, $100 for 1 year if you don't want tofill up every 6 months.

Also with the prepaid account you'll get unlimited incoming calls.

I looked into Wind Mobile but isn't their calling only local calling? I asked them what local meant and they said pretty much within the same city :/ I thought that was pretty useless. And the prepaid plan, isn't it 20 cent a minute? I know for a fact my mom is going to run out of her $100 worth of minutes in like a week!
